This is hilarious

Dash Cams'

I hate to think we're becoming like Russian drivers where everyone has a dash cam. However, when it's a word against word on what happened, the dash cam doesn't lie.

So true! Some of those you tubes are unreal!
Just saturday, I'm cutting through my next over neighborhood-- 4 way stop, I'm sitting on a terciary street, a secondary street is perpendicular. I'm looking to make a right onto the secondary, and a NYPD radio car is coming the opposite way on the secondary- and totally BLOWS the stop. Speed limit is 30, and the blonde driver is doing at least that while fixing her hair- right through the intersection. A dash cam would have gotten the whole thing.

Bought a Wheel Witness in Nashville TN http://www.wheelwitness.com/

I bought it because it seems like in the Southern States that we've visited people don't think that a right hand turn against a Red light requires a STOP!!!

Or when they come up to a 4 way stop or a driveway out of a business, its not a firm feeling that they are going to STOP!!!

I REALLY don't think that the meaning of the word " Coast " is known or thought of, Most POWER!!! up to about 10 to 15 feet of the crosswalk and SLAM on the brakes. Really unnerving feeling.

I was always under the impression that Southern California drivers are the worse, as a trucker you had experience with these clowns, stop before turning on red light, only time I see that is with the camera's, then you get ticket in the mail with the fees! Have Happy a safe trip!

The Sad Truth of the matter is that the Commercial drivers are just as bad as the 4 wheelers for the most part. Use to be that a Commercial driver was better than most, just because of the shear amount of miles driven. Now days with the get a license in a week & your the king of the Highway the next the commercial drivers are so unskilled that they are twice as dangerous.

I have had some of them come so close to taking the frontend off the Motorhome that I quit dimming the lights so I can prepare to make a escape maneuver to avoid them. Then they hear several of us talking on the radio and complain about it. I've almost come to blows over some of the Stupid XXXX that commercial drivers have done. I don't know WHO STARTED the stupidity of turning on the HIGHBEAMS to let me know that I've got a clear lane to move into passing. I know some of the newer trucks cant dim the lights so lets think about the stupidity of HIGHBEAMS.

When someone passes a truck and is wanting to move back to the right after sufficient tail to nose clearance has been achieved, So the intelligent driver would be thinking well he wants to merge to the right after he passed me? He MUST BE LOOKING IN THE RIGHT SIDE MIRROR to see if he's cleared the one being passed, so WHILE HE'S LOOKING IN THAT RIGHT HAND MIRROR LETS HIT THE HIGHBEAMS!!!!! what kind of Frigging Moron Move IS THAT? I'd just as soon they didn't do anything rather than play Timmy Trucker and BLIND ME.

And then when I don't either BLIND THEM or Dim my Lights or say You've missed me, THEY GET THEIR PANTIES ALL IN A WAD!!! you explain the reason and then they ask WELL WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? Nothing comes first to my mind.

Cars AND trucks getting onto the hwy is another place that just gives me a wedgie of my shorts. If someone is actually paying attention and trying to get on the hwy I will go out of my way to help them achieve the process, MOST don't have any idea of what's in the lane that they are about to Merge into because the on-ramp lane in which they are RUNNING OUT OF is about to happen. They are too busy doing something else other than what they are supposed to be doing which my Guess would be DRIVING!!! Plus they hit the bottom of a long on ramp at a Blazing Speed of 40 MPH when everyone else is supposed to be doing at least 55 MPH more often than not FASTER THAN THAT!!! I Slow down they look at me like WHAT SHOULD I DO? Being the Smart XXX that I am if its a Truck Driver I'll comment that YOUR NOT GOING TO GET A WRITTEN INVITATION!!!! This is sure to start a Battle Royal of "Radio Rambo" for the next few hours, although entertaining it gets pretty old fast.

Just another guess on my part there is two options at this point, The long pedal on the right of the floorboard makes the car or truck GO FASTER!! or there is the one to the left or in some cases the one in the middle that MAKES IT STOP!!! not much of a decision to be made in my estimation GO FAST or STOP ??????

If you would like to go into the Ethnic Groupings of DUMB XXXX things done well im sure that TDR WONT LET THAT HAPPEN, we wont even go into the weekend warrior RV drivers that pull a trailer that the wheel base is wider than the truck that their pulling it with. They are often a foot to two feet in the lane to the right AND DON'T HAVE A FRIGGING CLUE THAT THEY ARE!!!

I installed a Train Air Horn and 3 very large air tanks to let them know that I NEED MY LANE THANK YOU!!!

I finally got around to buying a dash cam. I ended up with the Kdlinks X1. It still reviews well and Amazon had it on a flash sale last week. Very easy to install and setup. This one is GPS enabled and tracks speed and location + records audio. I put it in the Ford for now since we are taking it on vacation. But,

it came with a second mounting bracket and will be very easy to swap over to one of the other trucks when we get home.

My prayer is that I never need video from it for an accident.

The clips are extremely clear day and night. Audio is also excellent. What I don't care for is that sometimes it is nearly impossible to retrieve a saved clip that gets saved by the G-sensor. If I go out and get the memory stick right now, I will be able to pull my drive home off very easily. But a month or so ago when I almost took out a deer, it auto saved and locked the clip in some format that my computers don't recognize. The file is there and time stamped, but you just can't view it. Frustrating to say the least. If I manually save it, it is fine.

I've contacted the manufacturer a couple of times and the issue seems to only happen randomly. So, I'm afraid that I will miss something really important sometime due to it being in some unreadable format.

In short, I wouldn't buy again.

I've the Rexing V1 running since a month or so.
Sleek design.
Pretty happy with it, works as desired.
Video is in MOV Format.

PS: the dash-cams in Russia ar mandatory from the insurance companies. No Cam - No insurance.

On my drone I use a smart phone app called MP4Fix to repair recordings that do not get stopped before I power down the drone. You put a good file in the directory with the bad one and it uses info for the good one to repair the bad one. The app cost a few bucks but it works for me. You can try it first and see if it fixes the file, you just can not save the file with paying the one time fee. SnoKing

I've watched those videos on YouTube, and many of them it's obvious folks were killed. I drove in Poland and Chech Republic after the wall came down and it can really be scary as people suffer from stupidity, no fear, and no driving skill, a very dangerous mix.

I purchased a CB/DashCam set at TA truck stop, but haven't tested the camera yet. We'll see if it's any good.

Interesting thread. I may put the cheapo camera in my Jeep and based on y'all's posts, put a nice one in my wife's and my trucks.

Cheers. Ron
