Has anyone here noticed that your dash gauges get funky over the years, ie: work funny?

I was told that OEM gauges tend to stop working as well over the years.

I'm wondering because there is the option to get oil pressure and water temp gauges, so I was wondering if it would be a good idea to back up the dash gauges since they might fail or start to read wrong?

Or are my dash gauges just fine?

Your dash gauges are just fine......

True, they CAN start to fade over time, but they should still be usable. My oil pressure gauge reads a little lower than the other Rams I've had, but it is fairly CONSISTENT- it goes up to the 2nd mark in the arc at idle, up to almost the 3rd at hwy speeds. I put a $7 O/P gauge on it, and it has 25psi @idle; 70 @WOT, bumping the governor. If you are that concerend about it, take the senders out, and clean them off, then pu them back in. Of course, you run the risk of breaking somehting so you may not want to.

My heat guage has been bouncing like crazy for 5 years now on my old rusted out 90. The fuel guage has never worked but the low fuel light does so that saves me from walking. And the radio workes for 6 months, don't work for 2 years, work for 2 weeks , quit again and so on. If I let go of the fuel pedal for a second the heat guage will settle and I get a reading and then back into the fuel we go.
