My 2011 3500 heater/ac dash controls are not working properly. I cannot get the system to change the air flow directions. It all comes out the floor vent. The recirculation works and the temp and the blower speeds. I cannot get the control to direct air any way but to the floor. The knob turns ok but will not change airflow direction from floor to upper vents or defrost vents.

Anyone else had this problem? I bought truck new in 2011 and it has 63000 miles now. Tks

this would be a door issue, most of the time you get air from the vents, and it won't change, in your case it spund like you door motor has quit, or you have a broken door and is jammed in the position of directing the air to the floor. so you will need to get to that motor and see if it is bad. if the motor is good, then it will be the door. You can do this 2 differnent ways, heatertreater.com is one way, the otherway involves removal of the dash to get heater box out.

OK I took my Lance camper off in anticipation of taking this to the dealer in Dodge City, KS to check out this HVAC door issue. Started the truck up and the system works as designed. Defrost, vents, etc. all work perfectly. Makes no sense why it would not work for 2 weeks and suddenly begin working perfectly. So I do not think it is a door issue but probably something with the actuator motor?

Anyway, do you think any technician could tell that the actuator motor or switch would be going bad? In all honesty, I think it needs to be broken or not working to find a problem. Tks

Very likely that a bad actuator would have set a code-not turn on cel.A factory scanner would be required not one from autozone to access the hvac system. They would have a B prefix in the code

Tks, my scanner did not pick up anything but I did not spend a fortune on it either. I wondered if theirs would pick up something like this. I will run it up to Dodge City next week and let them try. This is the 2nd time in 2 years it has done this. 1st time was only for a day or so and I forgot about it. But as we are planning to go up to Alaska late summer early fall, one just might need most, if not everything to work. Especially a defroster. Sure kept our feet cool in TX though.

Thank you very much for the response.

OK..........took it to the dealer in Dodge City and an actuator motor was bad. Now I am $230 poorer but all works well . It was not operating correctly when I took it up. Thanks for the advice folks.
