So when I turn on my head lights at night sometimes the dash lights don't come on and may possibly have a short somewhere. I had the head light switch knob replaced a couple years ago due to the knob literally breaking as well as a TSB on it. The dash lights going out I thought was related to the knob switch somehow because I used to be able to wiggle the knob and then the lights would come on but now that doesn't work and I have to basically just drive the truck until the lights eventually come on. Headlights work fine just the dash lights going off and on. Anyone have this issue and how they possibly fixed it??

Thanks, Joe

the plug at the back of the instrument panel may be the problem. pull it out and spray contact cleaner. hope this helps, others will have more ideas.

How do I access this plug? Do I have to remove the dash to get to it or can I just reach under the steering wheel up behind there somewhere??

Thanks, Joe

I just found on a friend's 2002 that the pin for the running lights/instrument lights must have spread or has a bad crimp. To do a permanent fix, I cut the wires and spliced them together. On his truck it was a Red/Pink wire on the instrument panel disconnect plug next to the clutch peddle. The big one with a bolt through it.

Good Luck
