Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) dash lights out

A freinds 2001 dash lights are not working. What is the first place to look? he checked the fuses, They were all good. The cab clearance lights are not working also. Would these be tied into the same problem? Thanks any help would be great!

place to start when my dash lights went out completely nothing. cant say that my clearance lights were out too. never checked. but my dash had come apart on the connection sockets behind dash I guess over time this had happened. this solved my no power lights on dash problem. if I remember the outer plastic dash overlay (ring) get that off the exposed screws and then inner dash screws. its easy to do but I guess hard to explain what I'm saying.

All the dash,side marker and Tail lights went out on my 02.

it turned out to be the marker lights fuse in the fuse box in the engine compartment. Hope this helps. Harry
