Dash lights

I was driving home and the dash lights went out for about 1 minute, and then 5 minutes later the dash lights went out and did not come back on.



The lights for the heater control still work.

The high beam indicator and the blinker lights still work.

Be careful Mine did that and My tail lights were out too.

Sounds like the headlight switch or the socket is going bad. Or both.



This is a common problem if you tow a lot or have a dually.

Ditto on the headlight switch. I've gone through 3 and that's usually a precursor to total failure.

Do yourself a favor and wire the marker light circuit with a good quality toggle switch and get it off the headlight switch. I replaced two headlight switches, and while installing the third I gave the markers their own circuit with a seperate switch and haven't had a problem since. I think the wire you'll be looking for is black with a yellow trace, but I'm not 100% sure so double check with a test light before you cut.
