I thought I'd share this info to save others some time. I had the dash out of my '97 a year ago, and had to hunt the junkyard to find replacement retainers to hold the dash screws. The old ones were all dried out and came apart when I removed the screws. Fast forward to now, and I need to pull the dash again to put my heater door back together. I hunted all over the internet and could find nothing on these inserts, so I went to the Dodge dealer and he couldn't find anything either. So back to the internet and after about 2 hours of searching I came up with something on a Durango forum about pulling a dash with a part number. Some searching with the part number came up with a picture, the right part!
So here, for anyone that needs to pull their dash, is the insert that holds the dash screws in.

That was my intent, to save somebody the agony I went thru to find it. Also, it comes as a package quantity of 4, so plan on buying 4 or 8! It's supposed to fit '97 thru '07.

My eyes aren't so great anymore but those are the ones by the w/shield?? If so they are in the factory parts book but you will need a good parts guy to find them

Thanks Pete,
For sharing the info. This morning I begin my first heater core replacement project. If they are not expensive it might be a good idea to buy extras and store them is a cool dark place so they last longer. You know how it is - you find this information now, then a few years down the road you can't find it or things have changed and the supplier is no longer in business or moved, ect.

I figured I'd post an update. Bob, yes, and the local dealer parts guy couldn't find them, so I had to resort to the Google! lol I looked at that link posted by Crabman, and those are the wrong inserts.

I pulled my dash a few weeks ago when it was warm, or sorta warm. I fixed my heater door and installed the new inserts. Turns out I only needed 4 of them, the center hole is just a hole in the cab, no insert needed, so the package quantity turned out perfect.

BTM, You're Welcome! Not a bad idea, but I don't think my poor old truck will last long enough to need another set. ;)
