How do you get the blasted things off, I know there are som clips involved I've had the large one off directly below the steering column. I need to remove the one above the brake release handle. I've tugged a little but don't want to break it.

If you are talking about the panel that holds the light switch, pull straight out from the right edge (next to the steering wheel). There is a small gap between the panels that you can stick your finger into. It'll come out with the switch and a/c vent attached.
