Well, I was going to take the guts out of my donor 3500 4x4, but time constraints and the fact that I can get most of the parts I need to repair it for around $500 has dictated that I will probably rebuild my donor.

For some background, the truck (a 1994 3500 regular cab auto 4x4)had a steering column fire that took out the column, instrument cluster, and dashboard. Luckily, the tow truck operator was quick enough with the fire extinguisher and the windshield didn't get fried. The damage is contained to the left side of the dash only, the radio and everything from the OD switch on is fine.

What I need to know is, how do you remove the plastic dashboard? (the whole thing, from left to right sides). Also, does anyone have gray interior parts that they might want to part with? PM me or drop me an e-mail please. I also might need some misc body parts... I'll know that later.

One other thing, the truck doesn't have a bed, does anyone in the SE know of a utility/service body or dually width flatbed for sale?

Thanks,

Joe H

Well, MY dash was removed by a couple third-world animals with a claw hammer and filthy hands so they could then rip out my stereo, but the proper way to do it is to first remove the ashtray and cup diving board. (just pull the cup-holder out you'll see a couple screws -remove them. THen remove the ashtray, again youll see 2 more screws remove those. Next just gently pull back on the dash plastic, start at the power outlet cigarette lighter end, after the first few snap fasteners release you'll have to un hook the wiring from the cig lighter and power outlet, they both just unplug. MOve the steering wheel down (tilt wheel) and it should just lift out.

Ok, that explains how to remove the bezel, but I'm actually talking about the entire dash assembly... from door to door... :D

Thanks, that gets me started at least... ;)

Service Manual

Joe,

I,m in Summerville, SC and I have the Dodge Service Manual for a 1994. You can borrow it if that would help. My son, Travis, works near the flight line and he could bring it on the base for you. Travis is with the 81st APS and is working in the canvas building with the pallets.
