Here's the skinny. The previous owner of this rig had holes drilled into the dash for a CB mic and phone mount (I think, from the hole spacing) and they bother me. . Also I want to move the Tach from over the Cummins consol over to the left side of the dash with my gauges. My neck gets sore watching the boost/pyro and the tach, back and forth. LOL

I was wondering how to fill the holes in the dash. I was thinking of a backing plate on the bigger holes, but what do you fill the holes with??? Something paintable I would hope and somewhat stiff so I can carve some pattern into it like the grain of the dash.

Any suggestions are welcome, I really want to smooth out the holes. .

If it were my dash, I would try fiberglass resin. Actually , fiberglass reinforced bondo would be easier to deal with.

Since I am a boat owner I have been forced into being somewhat skilled in fiberglass work. I would try a small spot on the back of the dash panel to make sure whatever you use bonds well to the plastic and your backing plate.

There might be a better way, but since I usually have some resin around the house it would be what I would try first.

Good luck.

Plastic Model Filler

Use the filler made for plastic models, it's available at your local hobby shop. If you like you can glue a small bit of fiberglass cloth over the back side, I have done this with Zap brand cyano many times with good results.

Thanks guys.

I like your thinking guys. I think the model filler would probably bond better to the cheap plastic in the dash. .

Thanks again!!!
