My 99 has a short in the dash which causes the ABS and brake light to come on followed by the speedo and tach falling. After that all the dash lights come on and the odometer window reads “nobus” so it is not getting a signal. This started after an accident a few years ago, but only happened once in a great while and was fixed by touching the brake pedal. The truck continues to operation normal while all the lights are on.

Now that I am back from Afghanistan and my truck sat in storage for 18 months, the short happens several times a day and is not fixed by the brake pedal anymore. The problem does correct itself with some time or a good smack on the dash, but it is getting very old quickly.

Please let me know where to start diagnosing this issue.

Thanks,

Eric

Either loose connector or bad ground. Get under the dash and start moving things around to see what makes it flicker.

Still no luck

TTT. I have taken part of the dash apart with no success. The trigger for the lights to come on seems to be more prevalent when the engine is cold. Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Eric

Glad you made it back Eric. This problem has popped up a couple of times in the last month. You may want to search those threads.

Thanks for your service.

Hey Dan,

It is good to be back. How are things going?

I was out with Tony Welch yesterday putting in my RASP (finally).

Later,

Eric
