I have a storage bin in the center of the lower dash on my 2001. This might be where the cup holders go on auto trucks, anyway this bin is lighted with the dash lights and was blue/green the same as the dash lights when new. The light is now fairly dim AND yellowish. I had the dash apart once, and if I recall correctly there is maybe a tinted lens the bulb shines through? Anyone know what is replaceable or where the blue/green comes from? Is there a bulb cover, a filter, a colored bulb or? I kind of hate to tear into this in the cold in the driveway without first having what I need to fix this, it minimizes the "cold" time that way.

TIA

My 2001 is an auto with the cup holder. The bulb in mine had the greenish plastic lens over it but it melted a little. I pulled it out and replaced it with a colored bulb from Autozone. Hope that help's! I think they are in the aisle near all the import generic crap, or on an end cap in the headlight aisle.

Well I did as Beach mentions and it works good. The plastic filter was melted, I took that out, and replaced the bulb with a Blue 194. I am not sure if a 194 is correct, BUT it works. 158, 161, 194, etc. all have the same size, just different outputs and estimated hours before buring out. Does anybody know what the stock bulb is? No markings that I could see.

the 164 bulbs are brighter than the 194. I did a amp check. the auto zone colores bulbs are 164G and I put them in mi isspro gauges. The blue bulb I got to try was too dark. Easy access to that bulb is to pull off the frame around the instruments/radio & heater controls. Then remove the little storage bin or the heated seat switch. that is were I tapped into to light my turbo gauge (Geno's plate kit). This can all be done sitting in the pass seat, doors closed and heat in the cab.

Thanks. I think the bulb I have now (packaged as a blue 194) is brighter than the stock, BUT there hasn't been much light coming through for quite a while due to the melted brown plastic between the bulb and the bin, it possible I just don't remember what it looked like new! I am happy with the fix.

Mine also failed a year or so ago and I discovered the green lens or gel had melted from the heat. So I went LED. Got mine at this link. Scroll down about 2/3 of the page (it is long!) until it mentions "inverted lenses". I bought the green one.
