So, I'm trying to change the radio out on my 91. 5 w250 and I'm having trouble removing the dash trim around the radio and gauges etc. I removed the 7 or 8 screws that were on the outside, but couldn't really get it to move after that. It felt like there were little clips inside holding it, but there's no space to stick my hand in and pry them open. Pulling hard didn't seem like a good option because it felt like it would break. Does anyone have tips to get that piece of trim off? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

There is a sequence you neeed to follow. I took mine off when I put in a new CD player. Was pretty easy. I think you need to put the gear shift lever into low position, remove all the screws, pull out the bottom of the trim first. I'm on a sales trip right now and won't be home for a couple of days but will look in the manual when I get there if no one else has responded.

Did you get the hood painted on the other truck Sunday?

I think there are about seven little metal clips that snap into the back side of the dash, that's what's holding you back now. There is one clip on each side of the steering column that I have found to be the toughest ones to get to snap out. I also removed the knob for the headlights. It makes taking the dash out much easier. I usually start by "snapping" out the dash around the radio, and then by the headlights and power mirrors. The two around the steering column are the last to snap out. Then just disconnect the wires. Don't forget to move the map light. I learned the hard way the first time and broke the pegs off from the dash that hold it in place. Oh well...

Hope this helps you out.

casey,

Here is the procedure from the Dodge 93 manual

1)Remove map lamp

2)Remove screws which attach faceplate to base panel. Make sure the screwbelow the Heater/AC control is removed.

3)Pull column shift lever into low position

4)Remove faceplate by pulling the top edge rearward to clear the brow of the dash, disengage attaching clips around the bottom of the faceplate and remove the faceplate. Disconnect wires to 4wd indicator.

1)To reinstall, engage attaching clips around bottom of faceplate.

2)Connect 4WD wires

3)Roll faceplate into position and reinstall screws.

4)Install map light.

This is pretty much what I did, be careful when pulling the faceplate off or it will break. Watch aroundthe clips.

Hope this helps

Stan
