2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission dash warning lights

So, I was driving the other day and I noticed that my overdrive indicator light on the dash was not working. Overdrive was fine, just no light.



Being that the truck was due to have the transfer case seal replaced... . again...

I asked to have the overdrive bulb replaced.



When I pick the rig up, I was informed that the whole instrument cluster has to be replaced because the bulb is part of that. He said it would cost at least $600.



Now this is to replace a bulb.



Is this correct????



Has anyone replaced a dash indicator bulb?? 600. seeems raather sstteepp.

I have a 99 and have replaced a couple of bulbs. Matter of fact, I took the OD bulb to replace the 4x4 bulb that went out (I have 1 5 speed). I don't know what planet the service guy is from that they can replace a bulb
