I'm BEAMING  ! Bought Samantha a brand new CRF50 a few weeks ago with the agreement that she had to learn to ride her bicycle without training wheels before she could ride it. She REALLY wanted a pink bike so I searched hard and found a pink bodywork kit for it for her (as much as it kills me to have a pink bike in the garage if it makes her happy . . . . uh yeah, I'm wrapped around that finger pretty tight). Today she rode her bicycle for the first time without the training wheels so I broke out the CRF and let her ride it. Started just riding up and down the street and she was doing so great that I took her in the back yard. She rode AWESOME - she's going to be a natural. I'm going to have to keep an eye on her though because she rode right through the fire ashes and left over limbs from a brush pile fire I had last weekend 3 times when I asked her not to after the first time. She was giggling because it was fun throwing the ashes up. I had a talk with her afterwards about following instructions, etc. Anyways here's a few pics and a video of her first riding experience (on her own, she's been riding on my dirt bike with me for a few weeks).

Mom hasn't said much. I'd say she isn't excited about it but is ok with it. Mostly I think she was afraid that Sam wouldn't like it and that I'd be disappointed - she was wrong :-laf !

Enjoy it while you can. I have been riding dirt all my life, currently have a 04 Husky TE-250. A big part of my life used to be the local off road motorcycle club, we used to go racing every other weekend, Wife seamed to love it (except some of the guys with sailor mouth used to bother her). Daughter came and racing slowed down. 12 years later and racing has stopped.

I been trying to get my Daughter to ride since she was old enough to walk, she don't want anything to do with bikes. In fact she used to cry with fear when I put on my helmet (I guess she thought Dad's head disappeared). I even bought a 4 wheeler for yard work, but bought a smaller 250cc so she could ride it. She has no interest in it at all. Maybe this summer I will push harder to get her to follow me through the woods a couple times. A friend in the club has a Daughter the same age who rides a Quad. I been trying to get my Daughter to go up the mountains with me when she is there, maybe she will then get the idea when she sees the other girl having fun. Only problem is that other girl has been riding for years now and my Daughter would be in over her head trying to follow her :(, can't let them get hurt.

Way to go Steve!

I bought my boy a little JR50, got the big trainging wheels, and he never liked riding it. I wanted him on a bike instead of an ATV but all he'd say was he wanted a 4-wheeler. So this past Christmas I got him a little Eton 50 and he is riding the wheels off of it. He's crashed it half a dozen times but hasn't been hurt and always wants to get back on and ride some more. He really likes the snow.

She looks good!

We did the same thing with my younger son when he was five. He got on a Suzuki JR50 and took right off. We started him out on asphalt and then the first time we were on a dirt trail he took off and then hit the back brake to skid. He looked back when he was stopped to see how long his skid mark was. :-laf

Thats awesome Steve!! Dad started my brother and I young on our honda minibike then upgraded to XR 80 & XR100 then bumped up to a CR80 now a YZ125 (97& 98) she will be glad you started her early!

Any chance the training wheels will be off and she'll be ready for Silver Lake this year? :D

Looking good! I can't believe neither of my sons is very interested in a bike. BTW, how did you get the video on there?

I uploaded it to my own personal web space and then used html code to embed the windows media player on the page. Us webmasters are good like that ;)

FANCY! That's cool. I'll have to learn to do that. Of course, I'll have to get my own webspace first...

I'm pretty sure you have to be 16 and licensed to drive on the road at Silver Lake. Regardless I wouldn't want her riding there anyways. I don't even want to ride my bike there. I've seen way too many people taken off of there under a sheet on bikes and quads.
