When I buy my trucks, I go to the either my local dealership owner/manager who I already know. I present my order list which I have previously prepared and we sit down and calmly negotiate the deal in a business like manner. I have always special ordered my GM, Ford, and Dodge/Ram trucks since 1974 and pay for them when they arrive. I don't buy off the lot and don't have the patience to deal with incompetent sales people.

My experience was a few years ago. Made deal over phone, when it came time to "settle up" a pushy guy tried to upsell me about everything in the book. Extended warranty ,credit card insurance, etc.
I left there with a negative impression of their business practices.

Yep, those Finance & Insurance (F&I) guys are real pushy. It's because of the big dealer markup of those options and the F&I guy makes a percentage of what they sell. I will not go through a F&I person when I pay. I deal directly with the dealership owner and/or the general manager. It's understood when we make the deal. I hand him my check, drive away in my new truck, and pick up the license tags a few days later. A no hassle transaction... :)

Exactly! Educate yourself in the ways of vehicle buying, learn what to say and not to say. Long distance deals conducted over the phone and email are easier and more pleasurable for most buyers, not worse.
