I am interested in having daytime lights on as the Canadian Rams have. My dealer says that this feature is set at the factory and cannot be duplicated once the truck has shipped (not sure if there's a special switch or if it's done in the computer). Has anyone researched this for a way to have the daytime lights feature enabled? If this is not possible, has anyone tried to use the fog lamps for this purpose? Do you know what color code the fog lamp wires are and if there's a simple place to intercept this cicuit? My thought is to disconnect at the light switch and feed thru a relay connected to the ingition switch on cicuit. I'm aware of the ground use for lights and a properly connected relay will work for this application. I was just wondering if someone knew firsthand of a simpler solution. Thanx in advance. BTW, my new ride is an 05 I ordered.

The DRL system can be activated via the DRBIII scan/program tool. Any dealer should be able to enable the system if you want it. We have a DRBIII, and have done a few DRL activations per customer request.

Why not just leave your lights on? they shut off after a few minutes once the key is removed.

Because they run at a low duty cycle (instead of straight DC) and use the high beams which saves on the life of your low beam bulbs.

I have had my dealer turn on the day time running lights on my 04, my sons, 04. 5, my 05 and my wifes Chrysler... . They did it as a favor... it took 10 min to do it...

When they did it on my 04, they'd never done it for anyone... . so that took a bit... I took a thread in from this sight and the tech worked thru it... now for good customers its free... and some customers pay for the service... .

I asked for a fee for each time they did it for a price..... and my sales guy just smiled... Most of the sales guys didn't know it could be done...

The power of the TDR is awsome.....

The only thing I don't care for is I'm forced to set the switch on the first notch to light the clearance lights... . as the head lights are the only lights at 40%

Just got back from the dealer after having DRL activated. They gave me no hassle, no charge and took all of 5 minutes.

I was at the dealer yesterday, the service manager stated that it was unable to be done? I told him that I have herd or many people having it done, he looked at me with a puzzling stare??? Can any one list the steps in order so I can take it to the dealer and train the tech so I can have it done... ..... thanks

Using the DRB III plug in

Set country code to Canada

Enable DRL's

choose high or dim

This is what I read from someone else's post. I don't know anything else about this. I told them what I knew and they didn't have any trouble.

Good luck... ... ... ... ... .

BTW, for anyone who's interested, I did go to the local dealer armed with some of the info from this site. A really curious tech said he had not had the request previously but he was game to try if I was (I liked his attitude). We found the DRL option and enabled it in the US country code section. I then watched the lights for confirmation but no go. We tried several ways to get there, in drive, in Canada, and others. It turns out that the DRL feature is powered off when the parking brake is applied. Go figure, Also, the feature uses the low beams on reduced power, no choice for highs or lows. A very simple answer to my original thread. Thanks Evan Beck.
