is there anywhere on the ctd where there is a constant 12volt + ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, that i could use to trigger an aftermarket daytime running light module. the unit suggests the oil pressure sender, but i can't get to the wire, without taking the body of the pickup off! also, there are three wires to the sender, which then go to (from?) the ecm. i'm reluctant to tag on there, and maybe mess up the oil pressure gauge reading. TIA

I've been wanting to do the same thing. It was suggested to me to use a "T" and add a second oil pressure sender and use it to trigger a load relay wired to the lights. If you find an easier way please post it here TIA

i can't come up with anything else. should be able to get a pressure switch and install--maybe in the top of the oilfilter head. alternatively, a vacuum activated switch?? should be some way to use the auto trans--switch on only when in drive??

I think position #16 in the auxillary fuse panel inside the driver's door side access panel is ON only when the ignition is on. That's where I tapped into power for my pyrometer gauge.

i need a source of 12v+ that only starts when the egine is actually running. "ignition" switched current would start the running lights as soon as the switch is on. don't want the lights on while grid heaters etc are cycling. i ghink i have it figured out..... i'll let you know:confused:

PM me the details (if you don't post them here) when you have a working set up. Parts, wiring etc..... I'm interested in this. Thanks

i'll post after i've had a chance to work on it again. basically, i bought a switch which can be plumbed into the oil system, which closes with about 7psi pressure. use the siwtch to switch either a ground connection, or 12v+ to run to an aftermarket mocule, or to a relay to power the lights. i'm going to use an aftermarket module bought from jcwhitney, which lights the low beams at about 1/2 voltage. planning to plumb the switch in at the oil filter head. i've rewired my lights with relays and heavier wire, so the module will work. i think your truck still uses switched 12+, so you wouldn't have to convert the wiring if you don't want to, since the module will only work with switched 12+ to the lights..... later, herb
