Vp44 and B100

I don't have a link to the article, but DC has increased the approved BD% from 5% to 20% for the 2007's. I'd like to know if there are any major differences in the trucks from '06 to '07 to prompt them to up the %. DC is very smart about getting on board with BD.
 
Are there not a lot of people already running B20 or a higher percentage in their 2006 and previous year Dodge trucks with no problems? Since the 2007 model is approved for running B20 does this mean the previous years will never be approved for running higher than B5 in the future?



I'm currently running B5 for it's lubricity purposes just because I'd like to know what the long term effects of using B100 on the HPCR system. Hopefully they are doing there researching and will let us know sometime soon. Every now and then I may run B20.
 
I am trying to figure out why they are so scared of bio. If it meets ASTM standards, gives almost twice the lub. of #2 and a higher cetane rating where does the problem lie? I have been running B100 for almost a year with no problems at all granted I do not have a HPCR, but dang if the VP44 can take it the 3rd gens should be able to.
 
I believe that DC is still worried about fuel standards. They are afraid that Joe Blow will make B100 in his garage, ruin his motor and make a warranty claim. Or some other local Bio-fuel plant will put a large batch out there that is not quite right and ruin 100s of rigs. If you were DC what would you do? They are trying to come up with a national standard that they can count on for the 100s of thousands of truck on the road that will not increase the warranty claims. You have no control over what people do. I clicked and read some of the above links and looks like they are trying to get some standards out there that they agree with. Maybe the ASTM standards are not good enough for them.
