Here are some of the engine options available from DC to the rest of the world, but not in North America

This is from the site

www.jeep.co.nz

For the Jeep Liberty

"POWER TECH 2. 8 CRD COMMON-RAIL Direct DIESEL I-4.

This 16-valve, DOHC engine delivers a full 110 kW of power at 3,800 rpm and 360 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm. It is matched with an electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission that features a reverse gear ratio the same as its first gear ratio (3. 00:1). This provides more torque when backing up a heavy trailer, while an alternate second gear helps smooth downshifts. "

For the Jeep Grand Cherokee

This is the same MB engine they have in the new dodge van.

"POWER TECH 2. 7 CRD Common-Rail Direct Diesel I-5

The refined and highly efficient Power Tech 2. 7 Common-Rail Direct (CRD) Diesel I-5 engine brings a host of features to those seeking a diesel-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee.

With 120 kW of power at 4000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1800 to 2600 rpm, this available power plant features double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a variable geometry turbocharger.

This breakthrough in diesel power combines direct fuel injection and variable inlet technology to generate exceptional low-end torque, remarkable fuel economy and lower emissions. "

Also from Toyota, the Landcruiser has had this diesel engine for years

Type In-Line, 6 Cylinder, 24 Valve, DOHC with Turbocharger and Intercooler

Capacity 4164 cc Bore 94. 0 mm Stroke 100. 0 mm

Compression Ratio 18. 5:1

Max Output EEC 150 kW @ 3400 rpm

Max Torque EEC 430 Nm @ 1400 rpm

Injection Type Electronic Direct Injection with distributor type pump

Fuel Type Diesel

Transmission 5 speed Auto

This would be a good fit into a Durango

This basic engine is seen in North America as the Yanmar Marine diesel LP Series 6LPAM-DTP (260HP/191kW) from 4164 cc, (254cui)

Here is a private add from www.autopoint.co.nz

Note all the vehicles on NZ roads must be converted to left hand drive as they drive on the right side down under.

"2000 DODGE RAM 2500 SLT LARAMIE 4X4

Diesel 4x4

Automatic

$79,990 NZ = $40,000 US

5. 9L, Cummins turbo 4x4, quad cab, huge towing capacity, a truly proven work truck"

Just to prove that there are some good well proven diesels that we cannot get in North America.
