The new DC flip up towing mirrors are available as a complete add on kit for 98-01 trucks. I just found this out today at the local dealer. They didn't even know about it. I just happened to be looking through one of their parts books. I don't know why they wouldn't fit the older 94-97, but the book just listed them as 98-01. The part # is 82206157. The retail price for the kit is $270 The whole kit costs $100 less than one tow mirror purchased seperately?! Just thought some of you might want to get in on this.

UPDATE: There has been lots of talk about these mirrors, so I thought I would bump this back up. The kit includes two mirrors, two reinforcement brackets, new mounting hardware, and six replacement door panel clips. In other words, everything you need. Installation is a snap.

Hemi,
I don't think the book had a picture, but the description matches the ones you pictured. The kit is supposed to be the same as the ones that come from the factory on the 2001's.

Gys,
Aren't these the ones that are not heated and are not electrically adjustable from the inside? Heated comes in handy once in a while but the electrically adjustable from inside the cab is a must - especially if you have multiple drivers.
Please tell m they've added those features.

Ive heard that these come with the tow package. Are the heated mirrors available in stead?Im looking at getting a 2001 but I want the heated electric mirrors. I have powervision mirrors which are controlled from inside the cab and would prefer these over OEM

Check this thread for information on electric towing mirrors that will fit (problem is that we have to wait).

BTW Traded, how do you like your Cummins compared to your old V10?

The dealer called today, went down and picked up the mirror set. One and a half hours later the mirrors were mounted on my 97. The mirror set includes reinforcing brackets, replacement plastic trim attachers, a plug for the electric mirror adjuster hole, and good instructions. The mirrors are sturdier (less vibration) than the electric mirrors with add on towing attachment mirrors that I replaced.

My kit came in today also. Didn't pick it up yet. Glad to know that they worked out.

I installed my mirrors today. I was really impressed with the kit. It came with everything needed and very good instructions. I miss the power adjust, but I think it was worth it.

Hey "Boldt's Wagon" I was just trying to get some info on your towing mirrors. How you like them so far? How hard were they to install? What year truck did you put them on? Just your opinion of them and if you'd recommend them to someone else that tows.

Thanks
Kyle

I put the mirrors on my 97. The kit includes a reinforcing plate that goes inside the door. It took me about 90 minutes and half of that was looking for the right sockets/extensions/etc to do the job.

The mirrors work great. I can see the driverside trailer tires in the mirror, the passenger side trailer tires I am not sure what I am looking at when going straight down the highway. I can watch the passenger side tires when turning. The first trip with the mirrors kept me from dragging the passenger side tires over a parking curb and was able to watch the clearance between the top edged of the fifth wheel and a tree while driving thru a forested campground.

The mirrors stick out about 4 inches further than the previous extensions I had strapped on the stock mirrors. Much better visibility and no vibration to speak of.

When you rotate the mirrors between the two positions the mirrors require readjustment. But I normally put the towing mirrors on and off only once a year anyway so I can handle the adjustment. If you have someone else driving and the mirrors need readjusting or you want to pull the mirrors in after every towing trip you might prefer electrically adjustable mirrors. The six trips in and out of the cab can get old.

Hey guys,

I got the towing mirrors on my truck from the factory. I have adjusted them so many times between towing and running empty that I have learned where to set the mirror now and don't have to get in and out of the truck to make the adjustment. I just flip the head and adjust the mirror glass in one operation. It takes practice.

Heated power adjust would be nice but this is soooo much better than those other options, I can live with it. They look so much better than those funky Ford towing mirrors too!!

Does anyone know approximately how long it will take to get the mirrors since they are on backorder? Finally got down to the dealer today to pick up a few parts and ordered a set for 25% under the list price. Couldn't pass it up. Now hopefully the kit works on my 95, if not I guess it will just have to go onto the 01.

Stopped at the dealer monday to look at those mirrors, like the way they work, but was disappointed that they aren't electric OR heated... too bad.

$370 EACH seems like a lot of money without those features.

FROM ANOTHER THREAD:
A business in Michigan called Magna Mirror Systems (734-953-3063 Ext 216) is finishing up a "better" version towing mirror for our rigs. They also make the flip-out mirror for Dodge that we have been talking about. Here's the scoop on the new mirrors:

It's called the Mammoth Mirror
The mirror is 10" by 10" and is flat
Mounts in original OEM holes
Slides out 4. 5" (manually) to give 21. 75" outside edge to door
Will connect to OEM electric control
List price for the set is $345. 00 yes that's SET!
Not available until Sept 1st

I like both the heated and the electric features. With the pickup camper on and off a lot adjusting the mirrors manually would be a drag, (just getting the slide on's right was a pita) and sometimes adjusting on the fly is really helpful (ie: when backing up/parallel parking)

think I'll wait for Magna's
