going to order dad a 2004 loaded with everything in it today only because it has the cummins in it. i will never buy a dodge unless it has a cummins and i guess thier is alot of other people that feel the same way. if you lose the contract with cummins and lets say ford picks it up as an option. good bye chrysler corp.

so far these are the trucks that have sold b/c of cummins for example

me:99ctd sold then 03ctd

buddy1:1st dodge bought b/c cummins 03ctd

buddy2:eek:wns 3 89ctd,90ctd,02ctd

buddy3:99ctd, wants a new cummins

buddy4:98. 5ctd

buddy5:00ctd

dad: ordering 04 ctd

at avg 30g's a piece that is 300K worth of trucks!

i swear when me and my friends get together (everyweekend) the comment is always "looks like a cummins diesel rally outside. "

get rid of the cummins and those will be ford or chevy diesels me and my buddy's have all dicussed it many times they bought dodge for the cummins. and i know (DC) that you are considering getting ride of it i have some inside info. i dont want a POS mercedes diesel! i think german engineering is good but you will never build a diesel better than cummins for our trucks. this board has 17K members with out the cummins it would have 500.

LOL, You got it right that Dodge sells because of the Cummins. I wouldn't have ordered an '04 if it wasn't for the Cummins. I would have waited till Ford got the 6L PSD fixed for a new diesel.

i love mine with or without the cummins. no problems from any of the four i have owned. d/c build good stuff weather or not you believe it. they all have quirks and all are good. oh yea who else has a straight axel up front. my dodge is built to work.

I've owned two gassers (2G)and one Dodge diesel (3G), great trucks.

Owned one Chevy, 3 motors in less than 100k miles...

Cummins or not, I'll take a Dodge over a Chevy, Ford is an option, but it would have to be a King Ranch optioned Ferd...

I'm in my 4th Dodge/Cummins. Wife has had a Neon, Stratus and now a Durango. Step boy has a Dakota and his wife a Sundance. Good friend has an '03 2500 QC LB Laramie with HEMI that he traded his Ford diesel for. Best friend since I was 10 has a red sport 1500 QC SB 4. 7 auto. Co-worker friend has a '99 1500 reg cab auto with just over 100k with maintenance items only. We're all very happy with our Mopars. Cummins is the icing on the cake for me. Chrysler is fully aware of the Cummins following and is contracted until at least 2007. I don't know what ford fan told you otherwise but Chrysler is aware of what the paying customers want. Chrysler's sales are up 13% while Ford and Chevy are both down even with their "too freakin big" crew cab. Chrysler is willing to look beyond the big square box pickup truck and apparently it's paying off slowly. The Japanese play hard ball and the American people are as fickle as they come. It's "in vogue" to bash American products as inferior when the truth is we're only . 3 problems per vehicle behind Toyota. Not enough to put me in a tin can truck. So... to make a long story short, we're very happy with our Mopars.

I'm also a loyal Cummins man, but I have a very interesting piece of information. Two days ago I was at product research and development for Ford Motor Co. (I work in Detroit for a refrigeration factory service branch) While I was being escorted to the cold room to be repaired I spotted what looked like the next generation Superduty with the hood open and a cummins engine in place of the normal PSD. I have to tell you that I myself am on my second TCD, but if they go Ford ... Goodbye Mopar. Anyway thought I would bringe this up as I haven't been here in a while to read the latest gossip.

to be honest here

If Dodge did not have a Cummins in it, I would be driving a Superduty Fory.

If Dodge and Ford both offer a Cummins in it, I'd go for Ford.

I really love my Cummins, but I really, really like the look of the f-350 Superduty too.

FITTER,

what you have seen aint no gossip. dodge has rights until 2007 and they (DC) are already disucussing what they want to do is replace the cummins or at least make the mercedes diesel be an option(i know someone who was at the roundtable with them). his response was "if you loose the cummins you lose market share. " you got it a stinkin mercedes deisel is what they are looking at. germans are very arrogant they think they build the best of everything. if they dont offer a cummins i will buy a duramax. and so will all of those other people i have listed before b/c that is what they have all said. i will not buy another gasser even if i do have to buy a duramax. i will never own a ford unless they put the cummins or a cat(inline) in it. if navistar built an inline 6 with common rail i might be in. if wanted a high revving gas i mean diesel engine i would buy a hemi and put a little diesel in the tank to get the smell.

this aint no rumor why do you think that cummins is trying to rally support 2007 aint that far away. i always want the option of a cummins and that is what i will get even if i have to build my own.

Is there anyone out there that would buy the Dodge if they took out the Cummins?

I'd buy a KIA if that's what had the Cummins in it... :D

If Chevy ever got the Cummins along with the Allison I would be there in a heart beat.

I wish they made pickups the way they make class 8 trucks.

Here is your body and chassis, now what engine, transmission and axles would you like?

I am on my 3rd CTD, my Brother In Law (DDDavis) is on his 2nd CTD and my Son is on his first CTD... No Cummins Turbo Diesel, No Sale!

Well guys & gals, pick ups, or trucks are like sex, they are all good, but some are better than others. I like my Dodge with the cummins, but I don't love it. I don't love anything that can't love me back. I drive what I think is best, and what I like best. If Dodge went to the MB I'd probably have to try one. I don't like the others as well. When someone makes one that I like better, I'll buy it. JMHO!

To me the Cummins was an added plus to the Dodge second generation body style. When it first came out I thought the looks of it were incredible! I would consider a gasser in it only. Apologies to the 3G crowd but I do not care for its styling at all. If a Cummins were not offered in a 3G, I would not touch it. -fjk

I agree with fkovalski. The Cummins was an added plus in the second generation body style. I was considering a gasser.

I would not buy a Phord if it had a Cummins. :p

What if Dodge didn't offer Cummins anymore, and Ford did? Oh man, I don't like to think about it. I think instead I would just keep my current Dodge/Cummins until there's nothing left of it but ash... which I plan to do anyway!:D

My number 1 requirement in a diesel is that it be an I-6 configuration. I would never, ever buy a V-anything diesel. And I swear I'll never own another gasser.

If all the I-6 diesels disappeared, I'd try to import an I-5 Defender 90 diesel.
