They're programmed to sell you a dream/fantasy and live their own lives trying to capture and sell the excitement of "what's around the corner".

I think the DAIMLER influence will be MORE and More in the upcoming years. The Pacifica boasts 3 to 4 % Daimler parts. Thats a first for them. I bet MORE to come. They can't help but to THINK how to use Daimler truck engines and OR transmissions or influence the designs and call it Chrysler made. Just my 02 cents worth.

It really doesn't matter to me. They manufactured enough 2G's between 94-02 to keep me in body and engine parts to go another 50 years, and then I'll be 87. If I have to buy a 7G at that time SOBEIT.

I might put a 12v in it!:D :p ;)

2G and Cummins to the CORE.

I'm a Dodge/Cummins Fan!

Well guys:

I'm a Dodge/Cummins fan all the way. Ford and Chevy don't have anything on either the Dodge or the Cummins! I've owned 7 Dodges, a couple of Chevys and a couple of Fords. The dodges were always better.

Now, if you're a hard core enough Ford or Chevy lover, I heard there is a company that will install you a Cummins in 'em for around $12,000. I don't think you'll ever see Cummins in either one from the factory, except you can get a Cummins in F-650s and F-750s.

Finally, we love our 2003 and 2002 DODGE trucks. They look great, they drive great and you can't beat 'em.

can I hear a hearty Amen from the gallery??!!

I would like to be able to order my pickup like I can my Class 8. A Cummings with a Super10 would be sweet.

One thing to remember is that DC also owns Detroit Diesel, Maybe we would get lucky and get an engine based off of the 60 series. :D :D :D or am I going over board on my wishes for more power.

What makes a truck

My previous truck was a k2500 5 speed with standard gearing 373 rear . I had no opportunity to test drive anything but an auto trans. Chevy gave me a heck of a deal because a manual trans truck came with air, tilt ,and cruise for free because it increased fleet economy government standards. Good truck with only water pump, starter, and alt. replaced-- all at high mileage. Radio piece of trash from the start. I wanted to look at Duramax as I was impressed with the test drive performance of this new diesel. [at least on an EMPTY truck] I told the dealer to find a manual 6 speed for me to test drive because the truck I own has to be shifted to low range just to get the trailer moving.

Closest available truck was a 7 hour drive and out of state. That is what got me to test drive a Dodge. I'll admit I was concerned that I would be replacing brakes every 20,000 miles and other stuff I heard, but at 20,000 and counting I have no complaints -- even the tires look 80%.

Oh -- BTW-- to get the trailer moving, I just let the clutch out --at idle.

:) :D

When I posted the question about dropping the Cummins in other vehicles someone posted this link:

The Ford Cummins

I wonder what it would cost to buy a new Ford/Chevy/GMC with everything except the engine and drive train, then drop in the Cummins and transmission?

If I could cobble together the exact truck I wanted, and it only cost about 6K or 7K more than an off the line truck I'd consider it. The difference for me is that I would probably use a 1973-1979 truck body/chassis because of the heavy-guage metal. And if I were going to go to all that trouble I might even consider using an older truck for the body style, and buy the kits to install modern suspension and brake assemblies. I figure the whole modification package would add upwards of $15K, but if the truck cruised through another 20 years I'd die a happy man.

Cummins VAN

Since we are here. Does anyone know if a one ton van is available with a cummins? I do not care who makes it I would really like the Cummins motor.

Cummins or....Cat??

I wonder if any of them are going to get CAT into the light duty market?

I was at the RV show the other day and antoher shopper was giving a salesdrone an earful about why he wouldnt buy this particular Class A without it having a CAT (It had a Cummins). I stood by mildly amused for a second until he made the statement that he hadn't ever actually owned a diesel, but had heard what a wonderful motor the CAT was.

IMHO, CAT or Cummins would do the trick - I-6 is the way to go.

I was looking for a truck and ONLY bought the Dodge because my friend had 400,000 on three of them. I am basically happy with the truck after some minor problems. I went back and forth to the GM dealer then finally decided on the Cummins. I had a super duty DROF and it never started correctly after 5 dealers looked at it. When cold it I wouild have to crank it then recycle it for it to start. I even left it at a big truck dealer for three weeks never again. I would probably go to GMC if there was no Cummins. I had a 1980 Chey diesel that went 110 with me and 200,000 and more last I heard with the second owner. The heads did crack when it was new but after that it was great and always started. I do not want a truck with german motor in it stick it! I will probably buy another truck next year and keep this one too! I may eve buy a drod 750 with a Cummins. I was thinking this today what if there was no Cummins would anyone buy it :D

DC is not an American company. It is a German company with some facilties on American soil. Additionally, my Ram is not an American product. Hecho en Mexico!

Chrysler is losing so much money, it will undoubtedly go belly up.

If the Big Three automakers were required to pay their arrears to their pension funds, they would all go belly up.
