This is on my buddys pickup, dead pedal, low power, took it into dealer here in Salem and they get on it. First the replace the lift pump with in tank unit to verify that the VP44 is bad with new lift pump, they say it's bad. They also say that when the tank was out the mechanic said the fuel smelled funny and they pulled a sample and claim it is contaminated and that DC will kick out the warrenty claim as soon as they send the dead pumps and fuel sample to them. This is all supposed to be from the diesel mechanics nose, just a smell, they said nothing about water but did ask about biodiesel. Never any bio but he did add Lucas diesel addative to his fuel, and I know it smells different. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated!

A close buddy of mine took his truck in about 3-4 years ago for a bad lp well they droped his take and told him his fuel was contaminated. and his vp /lp/injectors all will need replaced and the tank would need cleaned out at his cost. But they told him to call his insurance company if he has full covage. so he did. his insu. sent a rep. to the dealer and they oked it and picked up the bill - whatever his dect. was. i couldnt belive it but it happen.

call bs and don't let them push you around, be firm but not a jerk. Also, confirm that the Lucas product doesn't void the warranty, they usually don't. that is probably the smell. good luck

For sure sounds like BS, and support the idea of having the fuel tested by an independent lab. Would somebody like Black Stone that do oil tesing do diesel also?

Well I have the truck and he lives in Seattle so I'm doing everything actually, I got a sample of the fuel they say was drained from the filter. Can't verify that it actually came from the truck since they drained eveything. Going to send it off tommorow to get checked. We'll see.

take the truck to cummins where you live they will tell whats going on

never trust a dealer never unless you are a paper pusher who has more money than brains
