I just recieved my service manuals today and after a quick look,I'm impressed. I would strongly recommend spending the $100 bucks to anyone. Even if you don't plan on doing most of your own work, just the knowledge of what should be done and how will help you sleep at night.

Mag,
I agree(ditto) with you. Also if your first diesel the manual informs you about specific differences of the diesel and gassers.
My only complaint is that you have to read every section that particular item is in to find out everything it does instead of just reading one or two paragraphs in one section.
But I love reading! #ad

The second complaint is that engineers/techs helped write it. I quess this is why I have only one complaint. #ad
#ad

(That is Chrysler engineers and techs. )
But I really love the Service Manual and would recommend to any one that owns a Dodge Diesel. #ad

Good manual except for section 8. The electrical diagrams blow chunks. It used to be that you could get large roadmap style schematics that you could follow instead of pagehopping all over the place.

Oops, too late. What silencer ring? (More fun than my 98 SST)

The service manual is indispensable. They do give you several pages in the back of the book to mail in comments, complaints and errors. I reported an error once and they replied that they already knew about it and it had been fixed in newer editions.

Rkohn,I think if the wiring diagrams were all on one page it would be near impossible to find your way though it,I agree section 8 is a PITA sometimes though.

I was very impressed with the quality and thoroughness of my '98 Dodge Shop Manuals. As a bonus us '98. 5 owners received the supplemental 24v manual for no additional charge. #ad

I have always purchased the factory manual for every new rig I've purchased. I have NEVER seen a better shop manual than the factory offering, whether it be Dodge, GM or _______ (foreign junk I owned... . #ad

I also just received mine and I was very impressed. I have a 1998 12v and received the 24 v supplement as referred to earlier.
I went down to the parts dept. at my not friendly 5-star dodge dealer. After waiting for 5 minuets for some one to come to the counter I got the runaround and was finally given a 800 number for a tech authority. I could not believe that they did not have them in stock and could not order them for me. They also had no idea what they cost but told me that the 97 neon manual was $90. I later found that they have a web site and ordered it from there. http://www.techauthority. daimlerchrysler.com/

I have a new "2000" manual but my truck is a '01. Is there much difference, if any, between a '00 manual and a '01 manual?

..... different turbo (auto. equipped Rams) and rear disc brakes on the '01. 5.

Is there a '01. 5 supplement that is included with the '01 Shop Manual?

If you ordered the 2000 manual, you should've ordered the 2001 supplement. I think that these were around $20. I don't have the part number here at work. Additionally, if you have the rear disc brakes, I don't know where this gets added. There are some definite differences--mostly electrical.

Disc brakes, 6 speed and all are in the new 2001 manual without supplements. I ordered the 2001 and they sent me a 2000 and said there were no supplements. Nice job DC. Now I have to buy the right manual cause they lied to me.
