YEEEEEHAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!

Oo.

I don't know if I am just lucky but all three of my 3rd gen's have had tight LSD's. My first truck had the 10. 5'' axle and the other two were/are 11. 5 inch axle's.

For comparison I had a 2001 2500 Gasser with the Dana 60 and that LSD was garbage.

Also, I did a little test with my previous High Output '03 to verify LSD action. For the first test I put one tire in the grass and the other on pavement and floored the loud pedal. The results were lots of grass in wheel well and little movement.

For the second test I used the binders to kind of "power brake" the truck and I just kinda felt the rear "hookup". I then released the brake with the loud pedal firmly smashed. This time the results were lots of grass in one wheel well and a whole lot of rubber smoke out of the other :D .

Like I said, I may just be lucky.

Still working the rear diff problem?

I just changed my rear diff fluid to Amsoil. I have a little over 2,000 miles on my rig. I had some fuzz on the mag plug and about 1/8" of gray sludge sitting in the bottom of the diff housing.

Thought that was a little strange for a rig with such low miles?

I went and changed the front diff fluid too, it looked great, no sludge or fuzz, go figure.

P. S. That Dallas test ain't going to be near as fun if those cheerleaders aren't wearin their panties. Ok, I am lying it still goin to be worth checkin out!!!!!!

The other day I was half on-half off the road, off road side was slick grass and mud. I started slowly giving it fuel and eventually got up to 25 mph without ever moving or any sign of power being sent to the road side tire (ended up using 4WD). My Chevy Duramax in similar situations would give a loud "clunk" and drive right out--much supperior setup to the Dodge. I do get the wheel hop when accelerating hard and turning so it seems on pavement the rear end does it's thing, it's only when it would actually be helpful that it doesn't work. Jeff

i haven't had any issues with mine... i can feel it there if i accelarate a little hard in a slow right turn. the eaton G80 locker is what gm uses and it will fit the 11. 5" rear AAM [same axle after all eh... ] now it'd be nice if daimler offered the eaton E-locker. works like a LSD until you flip the switch then it's spool...

I'm with you, my LSD sucks in forward and reverse. I know I have one in there because if you jack up the tires and spin one side the other side goes in the same direction. I asked the dealer to check it and they did the same thing I did and said it was fine. I think they are worthless. My '00 1500 lsd worked muck better then this new one. I wish I had the clutches back.

I have had mine stuck in the drive with one wheel spinning also. Just powerbrake for a second and away you go. Looking back I like the feel of the antispin better than my 02 limited slip. My 04 feels smoother in really tight turns and now that it is good and broke,in I haven't noticed one tire spinning for quite a while.
