hi all I am installing the ufm and am unclear on one thing when you install the boost restrictor in wastegate tube it says to drill hole in tube but where? DD is closed already and need to finish I have a long drive tomorrow to indiana

thanks ,

Marc S. :)

you can drill the hole on the small tube anywhere after the restrictor, did they furnish the bit?

you are good to go without drilling the hole too

Yes they did but who has a holder for that little sucker. I'll fuigre something. on the tube there is a ring where it seats ti turbo should the hole be in the turbo or towards the head?

Thank's

Marc

EGT,Boost, trans temp. done. No pump wire yet. :( I want to do trans before that. I heard the auto will not last long if it is hooked up and run on the higher levels. SoI was going to leave it of for now and add the dd2 injectors and hx40 turbo and exhaust when I did trans and hit lottery I hope. Dam this is going to drain my pocket as fast as my jeep. I skip the little hole thing if it will not hurt anything. What is the point of the little hole?

thanks

Marc S.

the restricter blocks the hardline and the tiny hole allows some air in to not totally block the wastegate off.

enjoy the ride :)

with just the box you are fine

So I went for a ride not a hugh diff but havn't put it on the highway yet. So now I am thinking of the pump wire :D what do you think? will I kill the trans or is it ok if I stay level 1 or 2 for now

Marc S.

Hi all,

I got the ufm done last night and didn't hook up the pump wire. If I hook up the pump wire what level can I safely run without killing the trans?

Marc

I ran for about a year with no trans upgrades. But I didnt get stupid with it either. As long as you use common sense you should be fine. But upgrades WILL be needed.

Unless you have 3K laying around or your gambling skills are quite high leave the pump wire off. My trans. lasted about 1 week after the wire was attached:( . But Fred Swanson and DTT solved that problem:D .

Dave

If you don't mind me asking , about what does it cost to do an upgrade to handle the ufm. My daily driver is a vette powered cherokee so I don't know how long I can control myself. I may have to do a trans upgrade now before I smoke the trans.

thanks,

Marc

I think most installers will rebuild Front to back to insure reliability and some sort of warranty. I believe you have the option on some parts although the builder will tell you if those parts involve the warranty. Mine was approx. $3K as there were quite a few fried parts.

That small hole>>>

The restrictor and the small hole work together to send reduced pressure to the waste gate, so the engine will actually get higher boost pressure. . No small hole means no reduction in signal pressure, so the wastegate opens at the stock set pressure.

Why would they send a drill bit that is completely unneeded? That would be throwing money away.
