330 HP and 625 FTLBS with my setup... dynod at PSI motorsports in PA this spring.

I've slipped the stock clutch pretty bad a couple times pulling... but can't get her to slip EVER on the street... and I run the nutz off this truck. 14k behind it and can't get the clutch to slip with this much power in any gear, in any situation (obviously driven properly and not "intentionally" trying to slip the clutch). I don't understand the people that have similar setups that can blaze their discs... but oh well, I guess there are factory variances etc. I can easily peg 1350 deg. exhaust gas temps with a heavy load on a hill in high gear though...

As Justin said, when you get around this 330-340 rear wheel BHP level, some ETH clutches slip, and some don't. If yours doesn't, that's great - you're lucky. Mine, however, did. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

The point I'm trying to make to those looking at this combination is that you MAY have to budget a clutch replacement. I think we can all agree on that statement based on our varying experiences.

I agree 100%... now that I look back at my post I see that i might have been a bit overzealous with my wording.

Now... after my next injector upgrade, turbo upgrade, and addition of a big fueling box... i'm going to be in the market for a DD clutch setup for sure... I'll probably end up as most folks do... doing the clutch upgrade last... after the factory jobber has been smoldered.

Timming

Mel, the answer is yes and no, it just depends on what year your truck is. I belive that everything up to 98 with a 12V can,but when you get into the 98. 5 and 24V the ansewer is no.

Mel, i see that you are new to the TDR! Welcome! If you fill out a "signature" that appears at the bottom of your posts, we can know more about your truck and answer your questions more accurately. Let us know how we can help!

Timming

Mel, the E-Z is the only timming you can do to your truck. There are other types of boxes to change the timming but they all do basically do the same thing. I see you have a early 24V so I would NOT GET a major fuelling box I. E. comp box bucause those injection pumps are prone to go out when you hook up the pump wire.

Hey Mel, you listening?

As EW says, you've got your timing covered with the EZ. You're right at the threshold where you have to decide HOW SOON you want to upgrade the transmission and maybe turbo.

If you want more power out of that rig, I'd do injectors (DD2 or similar) --depends on what you use the truck for.

Like stated by EW above, I'd wouldn't tap that pump until I had the cash on hand to buy another pump. If it goes out it will go pretty quick. If it doesn't go in a few weeks or so, then you've got that money to spend. ;)

With 4. 10's I'd be running monster tires. :D

And welcome to the TDR.

Re: Hey Mel, you listening?

Thanks for all the input. I tandom pull a 28' 5th wheel & 18' boat. So far I have only run on the lowest setting of ez. Plan on a Gonerad transmission in near future as I live in Iowa befor going higher. Mel

Well the EZ settings are not power levels, they're just "smoke" levels. But the engine will respond more quickly on the aggressive settings--and feel more lively and powerful. This does impact the driveline and smoke output. You have to decide how much fun you and your transmission can stand. ;)
