twins...is it time?

"Fall Brawl 2004" Thank You !!!!!!

I got my dd2's installed and my truck smokes like a pig and then cleans up when it hits 1700 r's and up. It used to build boost at 1100 rpms and up. Engine noise is louder and smokes like a banshee. egt will hit 1250 pre-turbo in a heart beat. Is this normal? Need some info please.

Thanks

Preston

Those are 100 HP injectors, right? What altitude are you at? Altitude makes a big difference as to whether they will smoke or not.

DD2's = 80hp injectors in ETC, and they make a bit more in ETH's.

I have DDIIs with a #10 and a 3k GSK in my 1997 auto. At 7000 ft, I smoke like a freight train. To take the edge off the smoke, I have the plate way back. I dyno at 210hp. I'm thinking about going back to stock injectors to see if I can slide my #10 forward a bit.

I have a 24V like yours, live at 6100 feet and have run DD2 injectors for over 18000 miles, mostly around town. I find that the smoke is very easy to control.

I'd first check for boost leaks. You should be able to hit 31-32psi EMPTY with just a boost fooler (EZ) and DD2s. Towing or under load you should see more boost.

It's also possible that DD gave you some bum injectors. Rumor is that their quality control has been lacking lately-- some vendors have stopped selling them altogether because of the superiority of certain EDM injectors from a certain Don~ in Texas.

If there aren't any leaks or install issues, I'd send them back to DD and make them send you some different ones.

I don't see in your signature where you have a box, boost fooler or boost elbow. More fuel (i. e. , the DD2s) requires more air to burn it. If you don't do something on the air side to increase airflow via increased boost pressure, they will smoke, and EGTs will be out of sight.

Even with an EZ and 32-34 PSIG boost, my truck will smoke like a freight train if I catch it off boost (like between shifts or coming off the line when towing) and hammer the throttle. The air has to catch up with the fuel before it will clean up.
