I purchased dd2's and installed them friday night. My truck is an 01 eth. Fp is 15 idle and 8-9 wot. Lots of smoke until boost at about 1700-up. Used to build boost at 1100-up. Now smokes like a pig and then takes off like wild fire when boost finally builds up at about 1700 rpms. Heat goes to 1250 in a heartbeat. Before couldn't get to 1100 degrees pre-turbo if I tried. What can I do. Havenot pulled with it yet.

Thanks

That doesn't sound right. Who did you buy them from?

What do you have for a boost module on the truck? Some kind of box? How much boost does it make?

No module or box on the truck. Got them from Source Automotive. It had an edge chip before I bought it and still has the adjustable boost elbow. Before it would start making boost at 1100 rpms and peak out a 24 to 25 lbs, and could not get it over 1100 degrees pulling hard. Now it makes 24-25 lbs but doesn't come on until 1700 rpms and then it rips, but egts hit 1250 in an instant. These injectors were new and have about 25 miles on them maybe. Just driving it runs about 600 to 800 egt like it used to.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks Preston

I ran II's with an EZ & Boost elbow and saw 35 PSI. Your boost is LOW & thats why your seeing high EGTs. Do you have a Boost Fooler (ie. EZ) or just a electronic box for fooling the ECM on Boost level? Even without the Boost Fooler you should still see higher boost but possibly setting over boost codes. I would consider buying an EZ or Comp. & definately start looking for a Boost leak. Check the 1st Boot off the Turbo & definately check the Boot on the discharge side of the inner-cooler on the drivers side lower boot. (Some have been known to rub on the inner fender & slice through the boot.

Sounds quite possibly like a boost leak IMO...

Good Luck... . Been there!

Leak?

I guess the leak could come from the unhooking of the intake and what not on the install. Why so much smoke and no boost until 1700 rpms? It will build up to 25 like it did before, but now boost come on 5-600 rpms later than before. I will check for boost leaks and go from there. Never got an overboost code running 25 psi before. I do need the fooler though, I can see that.

At 24 psi you may not see a code, but with II's & the boost elbow in place I would expect you to see HIGHER boost. That & the HIGH EGTs is whats making me think you may have a boost leak. Let us know what you find.

The first place I would check would be by the grid heaters, I bet you blew out that gasket?? That or maybe the clamps on the hose to the air horn?? Always look at the at the last stuff you worked on first.

What altitude are you at? You posted your question twice. You may want to delete one of the threads. Since these are aftermarket injectors you may want just go off the thread you have in Products/Accessories Engine and Transmission forum.
