No bench grinder... just quality workmanship #ad
I've set the bait... now waiting to see what Joe has to say LOL

Hey Joe just so you know this is all old technology to me been there and it's about time you saw the light!!!!!! lol Now get to work building me a clutch that will hold 600 hp and fell and work just like stock I know you can do it.

joe d. and lawrence together on a quest for more HP #ad
. and bill k. giving DD the thumbs up #ad
#ad
, good to see we are all in a quest to keep the Cummins on top , whether its got enough valves or not ... what next ford and dodges sleeping together , wrath of GOD type stuff ????

Mopar, nah, we just have to talk Bill into running with the big dogs... forget the DD2s and go right to the top... DD3s! #ad

As he hears the Black Gospel singers in the background singing give me that old time religion... . great to see two of the good ol' boys got religion #ad
#ad
#ad

Now lets see some mighty big HP results

Hey Piers what are you going to do about the pump ?? '01's need help D'man has a reworked one available are you going to use his or or or ??

Rrrrr, bite, bite!

Its really sad #ad

Piers is trying his best to get wood with his new fetish--bundles of wires #ad

All these years, he has slept with chunks of real metal and springs under his pillow. Now he has to stir electrons and he is so frustrated he is picking on poor old Sickly #ad

I can see Piers now at May Madness. Half a dozen boxes flapping around under the hood with wires running around like someone threw a pot of spaghetti noodles on the engine #ad

A boonie box with a dozen spare "very trying pumps" and Dzus fasteners holding it to the engine so he can do a quick change after he smokes it #ad

Imagine his frustration at NEVER seeing 4000 rpm again. That zone from 3500-4000 on his tach will remain unsullied forever now that he has too many valves and too few springs in his pump hehehehehe #ad

Yep, we gotta cut him some slack. He is probably so desperate for horsepower he is ready to sell half of his valves #ad

Stir, stir.

Well... to throw in my $. 02

As Bill K said. He installed some DD2's in my truck and boy did they show a major performance increase. The only thing that I have to add that Bill did not touch on, was that with my EZ on setting 2 and the DD2 injectors, my truck barely even smoked. When you romp on the throttle you get a quick puff of smoke and that's it.

Boy am I happy with these DD injectors.

Not sure what altitude Bill's shop is at, but now that your back in Mile High Territory give a status report..... #ad
Wouldn't surprise me if you see more smoke tommorrow when ya drive it back in your "Home" altitude.

Whats your EGT's with the II's? (since thats what had you worried) Whats your boost level now? Details, need details Mr HotRod.

Glad to see ya made it home..... I tried calling your cell today at work but all I got was voicemail... .....

Email me when you can on how things went, how ya like whatcha got... . etc etc... you know details . <font size=-2>

I too am surprised at the lack of smoke in my DD injectors, in my case, the Super Mental DD6s. In fact, they smoke a lot less than the 370s I took out (but make more power #ad
]. Downside is that if we get the overall package optimized to use them efficiently, it will take more parts in addition to them. Of course they will cost more than other injectors because of the tremendous amount of skilled hand labor he put into them.

I never thought I'd say it, but they are "better than new Bosch. " Sickly is feeling much better now #ad

Kat... so you want details do ya? Here ya go.

Even here at home (5300 ft elevation) there was a quick puff of smoke when I started my truck this morning, and that was not. There is virtualy no smoke at all. I am very pleased with that. As far as EGT's, I did a WOT test this morning and again, I got a quick puff of smoke and that was it. EGT's I am not too happy with, but a lot of guys on the TDR would probably tell me not to worry. The highest reading I have seen is 1100 degrees preturbo along with 27 lbs of boost. It may not sound like much, but it is plenty for me. I am going to make some phone calls and see about getting a bigger turbo housing. . most like the 14cm2, just to try an cool things down a just a bit. But over all, I am very happy with the DD2 and EZ combo. My truck is completely different now... you honestly wouldn't believe that is is the same truck with how peppy she is.

My cell has been turned on all day, if you have time... feel free to call when you can.

<font color=blue> I'm at work so I'll try to call, if not I'll call tommorrow sometime..... anyhow my advice is forget the turbo housing change a 14cm housing is over $400, why not just spend that money on a good 4" exhaust? You'll get a better sound then with your current exhaust.

Jardine exhaust - $425
Diesel Dynamics - $550 - 20% TDR membership discount = $440.

In my opinio the DD exhaust sounds better then the Jardine, I actually even like the "sound" of the DD system over my JRE system. The 4" exhaust will give ya a good sound, cool down EGT's and also prolly give ya a lil quicker spool up. You lose nuthing... ...

1100&deg; maxt EGT is nuthing when ya hit 1400&deg; to 1500&deg; then start worrying... ... . your worrying over nuthing!

Thats what I would do... ...

The one thing that I need to find out is if my EGT's increase anymore when a load is added to the truck. Anyone out there have any input? Being that 1100 is my max empty, how will my EGT's look if I add a 9000lb trailer to the back, being that I know boost will get higher, will EGT's follow?

Also would a 4" exhaust actually help being that I have an hx35 turbo. So I will still have that 3" bottleneck at the turbo. What do you guys think?

Kev

You will be in the power for a longer time. This soaks the parts with more heat, and also the pyro probe has time to respond fully so you will "see" the full temp before you let off. If you go back to TDR#23 or to the homepage, featured article "Air+Fuel=Power" you can check out my testing. I got only 7 hp at the 380 hp level using the HX35 with 16 or 18. 5 housing. EGTs were not noticeably different. Once the HX40 is installed, 4" is the way.

Joe,

If we call Diesel Dynamics and tell them we want the same injectors you have, what do I ask for?

A little confused. Are yours still experimental?

Kevin,

Glad to see you made it home. I have been pulling our 9000# fifth wheel around to see how the truck does with the EZ. The highest EGTs I have hit are 1100 degrees. That is at WOT up a decent 1 mile hill (I haven't had time to try I-70 yet). I hit about 1050 degrees empty. In both cases, my max boost is about 26#. My whole point is that I don't see a big EGT jump when towing. I do have the bigger turbine housing, but it doesn't sound like it makes much difference (according to Joseph's post). See you on the 24th.

Joe - So do you think that a 4" pipe would help me out to lower EGT's even though I have the HX-35 and am still limited to the bottleneck at the 3" flange coming off of the turbo?

Thanks for the help

Kev

They are still experimental. We are working out the other things needed to make them work the best they can #ad
Even with no other changes they are better than the correct 370 injectors. From what I have heard, Bill, the 370s from some vendors are not the same part number Piers and I have been testing, so I can't compare them. I thought you had 370s from Bully Dog, but your signature says 215s #ad
The Super Mental Stage 6 injectors will probably be expensive (lots of senior level hand labor) and will require other expensive parts that take a lot of work to install, in order to use them to best advantage. Sickly is worth it #ad
and I hope he will be frisky again #ad

I did not find 4" exhaust to help much if any over 3" to reduce egt until the HX40 was also added. A low restriction muffler on the 3" system may help some.

I actually already ripped my muffler off and am running with just the resonator. So now I am complimplating whether I should spend the money on a 4" exhaust or not. Hmmmmm

Kev

"Even with no other changes they are better than the correct 370 injectors" he he I'm watching you JOE. I sure can"t wait untill we meet again!!!! #ad
: Stage 6 on the way.
