Doug, check the sig file below. You won't be disappointed with the Bill K mods. #ad
I am running the exchange HX35/14cms housing and speaking from personal experience, I just finished an 8,000+ mile trip down I-5, then I-40 coast to coast and beyond, up and around to New York from BC; The first 3,000 miles empty and the rest with my slide-in camper with a total weight of 12,500 lbs.
Peak EGTs never went over 1275 deg F and peak boost registered at 25 pounds. At all the higher elevations, it was much easier to push the envelope, but with a little care, you can still have fun #ad
BTW, I am running federal emmissions and have seen very little smoke (so far) when heavy on the go pedal.
The only problem you'll have is the rush!!

OK guys,

Need some help... . I have a 2001. 5 that has an EZ installed. I will be doing DTT vb and tc in the next 2 weeks. I then want to add DDIII's, but I know the hy35 that is on the truck is not up to the task. Does anyone have the same setup with a hx35 turbo? If so what are your egt's running?

I am not really sold on the hx40. I also don't do much if any towing (if I do it is only a 3ooolb boat). I looked at BD's hx35 with a 14cm housing but it runs $1000 + I am not sure it is going to be much better than a standard hx35.

Any help that you can give is appreciated.

Thanks,

Doug S.

Took a ride in Lawrences' blue demon about a week ago. That truck was setup with the DTT TC and VB, as well as DD2's, the TTPM and an HX-40. That thing flat screams!

I didn't think the DD2's and a box could support an HX-40, but Lawrence proved it to me. He said that when you have a TC that really puts the power down and offers good load to the engine, the 40 is a great way to go.

For the same money ($1000 w/tdr discount), I'd go with the HX-40 on your setup. Good luck.

I have DD3's and the DD EZ box on my ETH with the HX-35 (until I finish my HX-40 install hopefully today).

EGTs are very manageable at sea level, but you can get over 1300 deg. pretty easily, so you'll need a sharp eye on your guage, or a warning light.

I was able to tow (19k lbs GCWR) up a 6% grade at 1260 deg. at about 65 mph in 5th (2500-2800 RPM). The HX-40 would have been nice to accelerate up that hill, but I had to settle for simply being slight faster than most of the cars. #ad
