I am thinking about installing DDII"S with aDDTT set on timing only. Can the clutch survive ? How long? I think I can take it easy   until funds replunsh.

the only way the clutch will survive with that set up is if you baby the heck out of it. that probably will not happen as the power increase is just way too cool. the torque of these motors is incredible. I fried my clutch 600 miles after installing the ez and dd3's. the 6 speed clutch sucks in stock form. A couple of things to pay attention to if you are going to try to do it. Do not jump on the throttle below 2000 rpm. the torque is incredible below here. if you pull a load at all go easy on the throttle, these things with the injectors and box accelerate like a rocket even while loaded, but that stock clutch wont like it. Call south bend when you need a clutch they will hook you up

Mine has held with DD2s + Bullydog CPC + 4000lb boat @ WOT at 1700rpm. But I have a very good stock clutch. I have a SBC in my closet waiting for me to get around to installing though

Man i'd say it is very good, ive heard of guys slipping the pos 6 speed clutch with just an ez and a good heavy trailer. They must have been paying attention when they put your clutch together. either that or mine was built on a friday.

I got lucky

My stock clutch has not slipped with DD2's and EZ while pulling a 13,000 lb 5ver... ... ... . yet!!!

I'm in the same boat as rubberneck, my clutch was made on Friday. just under 12k and mine is slipping bad  and my truck is still stock:mad:

its funny how there seems to be such a difference in holding power with the stock clutches. maybe its just the fact that i drive the pi$$ out of it:eek: Ez on at 100 miles, injectors 1800 smoked clutch 2400 ouch. i do know this i only slipped it one time really good, from there on out slicker than snot, could slip it in 4th if i tried. oh well, south bend clutch at 2900 miles, now at 15. 000 and still kicking butt.

My clutch has not slipped yet with DDTT and 22000 miles but I have traction control problems. I hope the only problem I incounter is more traction problems considering I don't tow very often. If I do slip can the clutch hold if babied.

Mine is holding BD II's and an EZ, and I have jumped on it many times even towing. I was told the 'newer' ETH clutches hold pretty well. Don't know if thats a fact, but so far so good.

Too bad my tires don't hold as well as my clutch.

My stock ETH clutch was toast two days after installing DD3's (when I already had a DD TTPM). Now I've replaced the TTPM with a hot UPM and a South Bend Con-OFU clutch and all is well!

It's amazing the power this thing DOES have... I was towing my gf's car back to Reno on Sunday (tire problems), and despite having 5500 lbs behind the truck, she goes, "hey, your truck is fast!!" as I merge back onto the freeway from a rest area. Hehehehe. I love it. Oh, and that was on Mode 1/1 on the UPM.

got to agree with ya there rob, anyone who rides in my truck empty is impressed, anyone who rides in it loaded is completely amazed. the harder you load these things the better. they just dont slow down like a gasser rig does with a heavy load.

No slippage

DD2s and VA box, no slip even with G neck loaded with 1600gal liquid fertilizer Total GVW measured at scales 33,870 LBS. That's still not enough to hold back the mighty Cummins:eek:

My stock clutch held 334/821 on the dyno this last weekend. I can slip it easy on the road with abuse. Take it easy, no problems. I will have a South Bend soon.

May be newer cluthes are better . My truck was built May 2001. I hope because DDII's will be coming soon. Won't get a chance to install till spring:rolleyes: :(

Some guys have suggested my clutch holds 'cuz it has a weak engine in front of it  Well it cranked out 323hp/661tq before I added the CPC. I think the CPC is good for 50hp or so (not sure about torque though) so it's holding up to roughly 375 horses :)
