Goerend Torque Converters and Transmission Mods

I bought some mods from a guy selling his truck with the same set up that I was thinking about going to. (DDII's, comp, exhaust brake) The only thing I would have probably have done differently would have been edm 1. 5 instead of DDII's.

Question: Would there be much difference between these injectors? Have heard edm's run cooler, how much? Do edms produce more torque? or could a person even really tell much difference between the two? (other than price).

By the way, 4" exhaust comeing and SB ofe when truck fund recovers from above purchace.

I have already been looking at bigger turbos, but don't know where to go there. I tow a lot with this truck and have been told a turbo will take out my low end, but have also heard that some hybrids like the Dodgezilla work great while towing, any suggestions?

I am also going to put this stuff on one at a time. Comp first!:D no pump wire! DDII's next, then pump wire closer to the 100000 mark (I'm at 94000 now).

Would I have EGT problems towing with the box off and injectors in? Thats what I plan on doing untill exhaust goes in and posibley (probably:rolleyes: ) turbo later. Dang when this bomb bug bites it bites hard! And I ain't even started!

EGT (stock) - 1300 degF

EGT (BHAF, 4" exhaust, EZ w/elbow, stock injectors) - 1100 degF

EGT (BHAF, 4" exhaust, EZ w/elbow, DD2's) - 1225 degF (so far!)

Pre-turbo EGT's listed above are towing a 13,500 lb 5th wheel (21,180 GCW - 21,500 GCWR).

Bob, he has an ETH which will run hotter and the injectors make more power in.

Amillstream, I'd be looking at a Jammer turbo for the power you will be making. You will also need a clutch, fuel line kit and pusher pump kit if you don't already have them, to support that kind of power safely.

I have no doubt that, with a Comp, he could see EGTs far higher than mine with the EZ. I submitted my EGTs only to illustrate that, if one is willing to compromise on use of the Warp 9 settings on the Comp, reasonable EGTs can be achieved with an ETH when running DD2's with increased boost, etc.

Comp is always going to cause heat probelms , DD2's or DD3's make a great towing injector. I've used both pulling my 10K+ 5er

thaz rite,

i wasnt happy on my 02 eth w/ 2s and loosewire comp till i changed the turbo to bring down egt while pulling at hi alt

The injectors and comp are in as of todayOo. Oo. I got a scotty air filter too. I've been told this will help egts a good bit. I know I will need a clutch and bigger exhaust as I mentioned earlier, but am planning on nurseing the clutch untill it just won't do what I need it to do anylonger. (That will probably take about a week:rolleyes: ) I was hoping that if egts got to be a big problem for me, I could turn the box off and with just the injectors giving more hp, be ok till I could put a turbo on.

I know I know, I need to get that stock exhaust off and 4" on but that will have to wait a month or so. I'll see what the comp on ez mode will do first and go from there.

By the way Klocklier, how much does that Jammer turbo run and what size is best for towing? And to answer your question, I have the FASS system to take care of the fuel situation.

Check our site for pricing (can't post it here). We only offer it in one configuration and its about as well sized as you can get. Should work very well at your power level.

III's alone did for my clutch,

III's and the comp, make for a hot tow especially at higher elevations.

Just watch the EGT's, my personal limit is 1200f.

Scotty II helps, as did the MEK, but a new turbo is inevitable.

So what your all saying then, is for an ETC, DDIIs and a boost fooler would give reasonably manageable EGTs towing moderately (10,000lb)?

(Assuming stock exhaust, turbo and maybe an AFE drop-in)

But for an ETH, same setup would be a bit hot?

Any estimate on horsepower / torque nbrs for this type of setup for:

ETC - ?

ETH - ?

Edit: Forgot to add one more question. How much benefit in EGTs (or other areas) would getting the EDM 1. 5s be over this setup?

With the mods listed in my sig, I'm seeing the same temps as Rusty. Only been over 1200 once but that was up the hill, in sixth, experimenting to see if the temps were going to get outta hand.

No probs so far, actually thinking about a shade larger EDMs... . after other expenses are paid off.

Just remember that when the temp comes up outside, EGT's go up too. And for those at altitude, your EGT's will be higher than the guys at sea level.
