Subtle HINTS........

We have have been making then left and right, it appears that Diesel Dynamic has been avoiding the obvious.

Actually we were busy doing R&D on the dyno for the last day or so. We do have a dyno event here in Pahrump tomorrow that we want to make a good showing at.

Anyway, I talked with Autometer again and the deal is that it's a warranty claim. You can send the gauges in and they will replace the current polycarbonate lens with a new, anti-fog unit, just like what they put in the pyros.

They cannot exchange units with you, and cannot authorize us to do that either. Any units that you guys have are considered used, and they cannot/will not resell them to another customer. I wouldn't do that either.

You can call customer service at 815-895-8141 x 290 and see if they will do mirror shipping (you send yours blue, they send it back the same way). My sales rep said you could ask about that. Also, if you want to pay $10, Autometer will rush handle it and turn it around in 2 days instead of 4-5.

I have been trying to avoid the whole process of ripping out the gauges, waiting for them to be fixed, and then reinstalling them. I think Autometer needs to step up to the plate to protect their reputation. I have 5 gauges and 3 of them fog ( Pyro,Trans,Diff temp). Send us replacements, give us 30 days to return the defective gauges ( hold a CC number), and an apology for the hassle involved. That's just my opinion.

I have bought auto meter gauges for years. Race cars off road buggies and trucks but if I have to pull my fogging gauges out wait a "few" weeks and then put back in it will be the last time! It will be a cold day in hell before I buy more autometer if they don`t send me new gauges. I hope someone at autometer is listening. Brian Mallory:mad:

Autometer must have changed their policy or else my letter caught their attention. Some years ago, I bought my last set for a street rod. The worst was the fuel gauge that would swing from peg to peg when the tank was partially full. Autometer said that there really was not a problem and it was more accurate that way... Oh that's handy, I'll just pull over every 100 miles or so and let it sit for 5 minutes and wait for the fuel to quit sloshing so I know *precisely* how much fuel I have.

They said they would build me a dampened gauge if I would send mine in. By now I had the head of customer *****ing's name and phone number. (Jeep Worthington or Wortham). Ok so now instead of having a gauge that swings peg to peg, I just will have a hole in the dash and will stop every 100 miles and stick a stick in the tank to measure the level. That will be nice on my upcoming 2K+ mile trip. Gee why did I even waste money buying a gauge in the first place if it's that easy.

They built me a gauge and sent it to me and I sent back the old one.

Some time later, another fuel gauge arrives in the mail. I opened the tach box, after determining what it was I sent it back to them with a note inside.

Some time later, a letter arrives asking me to send them their gauge that they accidently sent me or else pay for it.

My letter is probably framed in a nice asbestos frame hanging on the wall in the customer *****ing section at Autometer.

I just resent paying Stewert Warner/Sun/VDO prices to be a beta tester for their gauges.

I never bothered to send in the speedometer to have it fixed so that the trip meter will not randomly turn over 200 miles instead of 100.

Move to the top...

Who else has problems... As you are aware, I feel we should have replacement guages in hand before we do the swap. And I also believe if you put your name on other people products you should assume reponsiblilty for that product.

I have 2 Autometer gauges fogging. I talked to their service dept. and asked for replacements. Told them I did not want to tear the dash apart twice. No luck. They were firm on me sending them my gauges. I agree that if I tear these gauges out I would just as soon replace them with Westach to match my FP gauge. :(

Sent my EGT and transmission temp. gauges in to Autometer. Removed them and left the dash torn apart because I was going to be out of town for 10 days. Returned home and no gauges. Called Autometer and they had not worked on them because of the Holidays.

Told them I had the truck apart and they fixed them the next day. Gave me a new EGT with some sort of control box which the old one did not have. Also gave me a free second temp. sender for the transmission gauge and free next day UPS. :)

No fogging now:) :)

Send them back to AutoMeter

Folks,

I had the fogging problem with my two gauges and waited until no camping (towing) weekends were planned. I just disconnectd the wires (protected them with tape), removed the bulbs, and cut out blackened index cards to fit the holes and :(

drove around for just under two weeks. Got them back from Autometer had re-installed them in minutes. I know it's not so easy when your Ram is for daily rough work, but like they said above, it's a warranty situation and Autometer needs to deal with it. Those of you who sent them back to the distributor ended up getting just another gauge with the same problematic glass.

I feel AutoMeter did their best to provide a fast turn around and my gauges looked like they were handled with excellent care. I put tape on the indicating my name and connection markings and none were removed. I waited to send them back to AutoMeter until after the summer towing season but spoke to a Tech. at Autometer and he said the gauges can withstand some internal moisture. I hope all of you get your gauges corrected without too much delay of time and difficulty of removal.

I'm glad I did it.

BTT

Any new news on the fogging? I bought mine new in Jan. or Feb. came to work this morning and all three fogged up for the first time, (foggier than heck outside). Once the sun broke I could see water trails down the inside of the pyro lens. :( I got mine from Diesel Injection Service. I'll try to contact them today ( I hope someone other than me works saturdays ) They treated me great on the initial purchase.

Bummer..............

I must be lucky because I have Autometer ultralite series pyro, boost, trans temp, and electric FP and they have never once fogged in the year and a half that I have had them. Thank goodness.
