OK, now that my AFE is in place off to my next BOMB. I realize PE makes the DDTM, is it really worth the extra $150 or not?

DDTM claims theirs is different and that the EZ advances timing too much. EZ claims their timing is the same as the 275 RV version of our ISB

Who's right?

Any recommendations

I see this BOMBing deal is a little addictive.

Not an expert on the subject but my vote is NO. Not worth the extra $150.

Heard sometime back the DDTM was matched to their injectors. Don't know the details or benefits, but it sounds like splitting hairs to me.

When confronted with two products under different labels but from the same mfg, my choice is to go with the real mccoy. Better chance of getting the latest and greatest instead of stale inventory.

TDR discount!

Assuming Diesel Dynamics still has the 20% TDR membr discount, the price is pretty much the same. Plus, I wanted to have the timing only option which the TTPM has.

That's a hard choice if you figure in the TDR discount. IMHO Power Edge's cutomer service is great -- But Diesel Dynamics Customer service also rates a 10... . One thing that nice about DD is the free dyno run for customers that are "Testing" ;) Their products. If you make it close to Las vegas for anything you should stop in.

I don't have either product, but I am sure I have read where the EZ has a "timing only" setting also.

Rob, I got my TTPM a while back and was under the impression that the early edge boxes didn't have a timing only setting. But, I could have been wrong. (My wife says I do that alot:eek: )

Plus, I figured I would end up with a set of their injectors anyway.

Or, since I only live three hours from Vegas, I was looking for a reason to drive up there. :D

Ram4Sam... if I lived that close to Vegas, I would go hang out at DD's shop... you could learn tons of stuff, and watch his dyno at work!

Hangin' at DD would cost a fortune!

Rob, that would be so cool!! But it would be an expensive education. I have alot of expierience in shop hangout and that place would be as close to heaven as I'll probably ever get. I am a weak individual and that place is dripping with gottahavits and I would end up a complete blithering bombaholic with a very fast truck. :D :D :D and a very empty wallet. :( :(

But, I do have a day off next week, a check from George Bush and a full tank of fuel. Maybe I do need a little education... ...

Hmm, 4" exhaust, DD2's,Physcotty... ... ... .

I have been to Diesel dynamics and i can tell you its a first class facility! I bought my gauges from them before i was a member of the TDR. I had everything mounted and hooked up except the npt for the pyro. I was scared to drill my manifold pre turbo so i took it in for them to do it. The installer treated my truck like his and in no time i had EGT readings. THE BEST PART WAS IT WAS NO CHARGE!... ... I am now hooked on DD..... The only other thing is if you mail order items you usually dont pay sales tax and every bit helps... ... I think you cant go wrong with either one IMHO

Thanks guys

Well, I broke down and called out to them. DD does offer the 20% discount. They quoted in the $519 region for the DDTTM. TDR saves the day again.

Thanks,

Rick

DDTTM - EZ

Ranger Rick, what symptoms does one experience as a result of too much timing?

I can assure you that Edge went the extra mile to come up with the best plug in product for our Cummins powered trucks. With that effort in mind, I can verify that the folks at Edge have studied the timing in the program for the 275 hp engines. Back when the EZ product was being developed, I sent Brett my ECM which contains the 275 hp RV program. I also sent them some other programming to add to their compilation of data from which they ultimately and wisely decided on the best timing spec for the EZ product.

BTW, the EZ is capable of timing only, if for some reason you would like to decrease your performance :)

Well, there are no runability problems, but if you are running the Diesel Dynamic injectors, then too much timing will result in too much smoke. That's why DD's version is a bit different.

From another thread..... using copy/paste...

I emailed HVAC but he did not explain how it had a timing only setting so I desided to go straight to Edge for the answer.

The following was the reply:

The EZ is just like you said 20,10,3 psi. when things happen. In regards to the timing only setting the EZ does not. Hope that helps give me a call if you have any more questions.

Call ahead to Dyno at DD

I dropped by DD last Monday, they do have a great shop. They had 3 turbos on display (HX35, HY35, and the HX40). Also there is a beautifully melted piston out of a 12-valve. The guy there said the idiot owner BOMBed without gauges.

I wanted to dyno last Monday, but due to DD's popularity, they were booked solid for 2-3 days. If you run to LV, you should make an appointment. Lawrence was majorly slammed when I stopped by. They were going to run like 5 trucks, plus a transfer case swapout, and a few other things.

DD is located at the south end of Valley View Boulevard (runs parallel with I-15 on the west side of the freeway). I think the best exit to take is the Blue Diamond Road/Hiway 160 exit (#33), go west a block or 2, and turn south on VV Blvd. DD is on the left, the first suite of the 2nd building of business suites there (6280 S. Valley View Blvd).

It's great to hear the 20% discount is still on. I thought it ended after May Madness. I would probably pick the TTPM over the EZ.

Thanks
