2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission deactivate locking door mechanism

How do I deactivate the locking door mechanism, the one that locks the doors when you drive over 18 MPH?

Hey Ron there is a blurb in your owners manual telling how to do this. That's where I found out. You have to do something like get in the truck lock the doors and turn the key from on to off three or four times and then un-lock the doors. Don't take my word for the procedure but I know it is in the manual. If you don't have a manual PM me I'll look in mine again. .

o. k. I'll take a look in my owners manual, I just though it would have been faster if someone knew off hand how to do it but I guess I'll have to look for myself.

According to my owners manual, cycle the key on-off-on 4 times leaving the key in the on position and with in 30 seconds unlock the doors with the switch. If you wish to reverse this just redo the procedure. I have tried this with my 01 with no luck. . Hope this works for you.

My '99 manual says to "press the drivers side lock switch to LOCK the doors", not unlock. the 4 time key stuff's the same.

BTW its on page 11.

Good thread but I've tried this procedure (after reading about it in the owners manual) and I can't get it to work either.
