Ok, I posted in a previous thread that the truck was back up and running again after seeming to have air in the lines, it wouldn't start again the next day, after tinkering with it for a while, I got it to run again and it ran fine the next day. This morning I started it up, moved it closer to the garage and changed the fuel filter to a wix unit versus the autozone brand I had to buy on the road a week before.

After changing the filter, I refilled the canister and bled the air out of it, and again I got the no start from it. I tried to bleed any air out of the injectors, what I'm getting is just a little bloop of fuel out of the injector lines, the truck tried to act like it would start a couple times over a 4 hour timeframe, but would not fire off. My neighbor came over and he is an old diesel mechanic that used to work for Cummins and we've both come to the conclusion that the injection pump seems to not be able to create enough pressure and had finally given up.

Would a bad fuel return check valve cause this? I've got a new one on order that will be in Tuesday that I will pickup when I get back from my work trip in Madison, WI.

What about a crank position sensor? I've had it go bad before and the truck would run during those times, just ran like crud.

I've checked all relays, wire connections, fuses, and the check engine light is not coming on either.

I'm at a loss, but the time I spent today trying to bleed lines and the minimal fuel that would come out leads me to think it is the injection pump, but I hate to spend the money and that not be the culprit.

Any ideas?

Save your self some time and pull the codes. I wasted 2 days trying to get my truck to start after replacing a dead lift pump. It took out the Injector pump also. I did have 200K on the original injector pump.

Well, I replaced the fuel return check valve on the dodge, and it's still dead in the water. When you crack the injector lines at the block, and crank over the truck, fuel eventually comes out, but it's just a low pressure blurt. From this I'm assuming that it means the injector pump is dead. I bought me another truck 2 weeks ago as I can't be without a vehicle while I diagnose this problem, so I've got a little time to figure it out. Any suggestions on what else to look for before I pull the injection pump and order a rebuilt one?
