Help, my injector pump died today. This morning I had to shut it off manually. Then ran fine for most of the day. Tonight it wont start. I knew this was coming, I just really wanted it to hold off for a little while longer. I need a new pump, I would really like to get the marine/industrial pump I keep reading about. Who should I talk to to get one. I can't stand to be without my truck too long. Thanks in advance for the help.

Try Lorin at Wentland Diesel. They are in Milton-Freewater in northeastern Oregon. Website is wentlanddiesel.com

9 times out of 10, the pump can be rebuilt... Also, make sure your shutoff solenoid and KSB are working alright before condemning the pump. Check fuel pressure too. :D I've replaced a lot of these things, and about half the time it is a fuel pressure problem.

Ouch... you're in for money. No way around it.

The reason your truck would not shut off, is that the "shut-off" solenoid works by dropping a little rubber tipped "plug" over the fuel inlet to the pumping plunger. When your pump fails mechanically, it's usually caused by either a broken spring, or the cam plate flaking off bits of metal. These circulate around the pump and then get caught under the solenoid plunger, where the magnetic field of the solenoid trap the flakes or bits and prevents the stop from shutting off the fuel.

In other words... if your truck won't stop... Use the lever on the side to shut it off, and have it rebuilt. If you continue to drive it, the little bits floating around do more damage, and may seize the hydraulic head, ending up in the pump being nothing but scrap metal.

The guy at Diesel Service in Grand Junction recommended the 230hp pump from BD. Price is good, has anyone had any experience with this pump. How is BD to work with. After my experience with Banks I am getting kind of leary you know.
