2002 3500 HO 23342 miles no modifications

7-year 100,000 mile factory drivetrain warranty



I was afraid to change fuel filter; so, I took truck to the dealer. Zero pressure from lift pump!



Have no idea how long it had been dead. Dealer replaced under warranty. What are the chances the VP44 is damaged?



Any advice on what I should do now would be appreciated.



I will have fuel pressure gauge in a few days. Anyone using the AutoMeter guage for $179 instead of the Westac? I understand the AutoMeter is much more reliabel and accurate.



Warranty invoice shows List of $290 and Net of 243 for the pump plus $44 for something else? Labor?



They charged $35 for the fuel filter and $25 for Labor.

LP from Cummins runs around $150. VP44 damage is questionable, but if it is, at least you have it documented that your LP was bad and they changed it. Don't be afraid to change the filter, real easy and you would have saved a ton of money. Money you could use on BOMBS. Autometer is probably one of the best gauges our there and is worth the extra money. Why do you think almost all of motor sports using them. Obviously I have Autometer and have no problems with my guages, and they all look and work excellent.



Get guages they will save your life. And your money. Also in the future think about moving your LP down by the tank where is should be. Took me 3 LP before I finally realized that and got around to it. I changed them myself, since the dealer refused.

Read post on this subject in Archives and save your money . Also the lift pump and injector pump have plenty for you to read. As to damage you will not know till some problem comes up . Thats why a gauge is almost mandatory. I use a Stewart Warner elect ,but your choice but get one and use it full time mount sender off the motor . Plenty to read on this subject too.
