So I have a new 2017 Longhorn Limited and the dead pedal is a real concern. My 03 takes off faster and safer off the line. I am most interested in why this is actually occurring and if there is a fix in the meantime.. VERY irritating to get a truck that is nearly 2x the torque of my 03 and the 03 can smoke it off the line and be safer pulling out into traffic. Do I need to get one of those OBDII plug ins to fix this issue prior to Chrysler accepting and fixing this problem..... Really, I got the Aisin and it cant handle a little more off the line.....

There are fixes, some legitimate fixes and some are feel good fixes. Some companies make an online controller that essentially fools the computer part that reads throttle input. So if for examples sake, you no throttle is 0 and full throttle is 100, the computer will think 25% throttle is 50%. Some say it works awesome some say it doesn't do much for the dead pedal. That is a modification that I have not heard of voiding warranty and can be in-installed very easily. The other mod is a complete reflash with a new tune that when rewritten gets rid of the torque management which is the reason for the dead pedal. That's an expensive mod and will cause concern for warranty voiding

And reports are that the latter will eventually smoke the Aisin, or of you're lighter on the throttle can at best shorten the Aisin's life. I have the g56, and i don't dare mess with torque management. My stock clutch and G56 cast aluminum case won't handle that

The BD Diesel throttle sensitivity booster will make your ride feel like a different truck. Beware that it does not completely fix the problem; just lessons the symptons substantially.*

People have been complaining about dead pedal for a couple of years now but Ram has yet to address the issue. Until they acknowledge our complaints and create a fix, the BD booster is your best option.*

I too have a g56 and when I delete I will be tuning it to get rid of torque management. You can easily upload a tune that isn't a race tune or crazy power adder. You can have the person writing the tune leave the numbers pretty close to stock. *I'll probably tune it to the number the aisin puts out and drop in a nice clutch.

There have been a number of software updates to address throttle sensitivity-will they illiminate all of it I doubt it.

My 2016 actually seems to be worse than my 2014 was........and it was manageable once I figured out how to drive around it. The new truck is just crappy to drive in town because the dead pedal is so bad. I'd hate to know I have to spend more money to get the throttle back that the truck should have to start with.

Bob4x4, Do you have any tsb or rrt numbers available for a reflash?

Every time they increase the torque, they increase the torque management

That's why I'm happy with my 660 ft lbs

Was getting on the interstate leaving from work yesterday and had my first dead peddle experience. Went to merge into traffic, pushed the peddle to the floor expecting it to down shift and go and it was like the truck stalled for about 3 seconds. A huge WTH moment.

The trans can handle a lot of power. The dmf is the weak link.
Mine's had a Smarty and now EFI which I use as needed.

I took my truck into the dealer last week for the "roaring" noise that was happening at 1200 to 2000 rpm. They flashed the PCM to 32381532AH on the TSB previously mentioned, 18-015-17. Made a very noticeable difference not only in noise reduction, but also in driveability. Very happy with the results.

I haven't taken y truck into a dealer yet as I have been doing all routine mice myself. Will the dealer automatically flash the PCM for latest updates if I bring it in? Or will I have to request a flash?

It all seems to depend on your dealer. My dealer didn't update during a visit recently.....I called early this week and asked if there were any updates to correct my complaints and the service advisor looked but after a short period said "nothing applicable". After a post by Bob4x4 I called back with the update number and magically my truck is now needing a software update..........:D *it's amazing how incompetent some service departments can be, even with the overall ease of access to service data. **
