Below zero all day today, '92 has been running fine until this early afternoon. I started it after it had been sitting for about four hours, let it warm up for a few minutes then took off. After about 2-3 minutes I was experiencing dead pedal then it died. I noticed right off after I started the truck that it wasn't throwing off it's usual white smoke, as it will smoke like a freight train under power until it is fully warm. (pump is turned up a little). Also, I just filled it up last night and put in plenty of additive.
Well, I paid a kings ransom to get the thing back to my shop and pulled the filter only to find clear fuel in it. When the fuel pump lever is actuated I get no resistance. So I pull the fuel line and apply air pressure to the tank to observe more clear fuel coming out of the return and supply line. (no filter on)
At first this seems like a classic case of gelled fuel but I can't see any wax or contaminates in the fuel. Maybe a fuel pump? heaven forbid maybe an injection pump? What method of attack would you all recommend next? I guess I'll spin the motor over and see if I'm getting any fuel pumped and put a brand new filter on. How does one begin to start trouble shooting the injection pump?
Thanks for your attention during this frustrating day.
