I have an '01 that is now carrrying a slide-in camper around the country. On the way from Rapid City, SD to Kansas City, Ks yesterday we started having the occasional dead pedal. The engine seemed to go to idle put never cut out. I at first thought it was the cruise, but after taking it off cruise the issue continued. We are in KC, but don't want to leave until I can get it diagnosed and fixed. The codes were all generic, 1693..... 0602(comes with the Smarty I believe). I am concerned that the heat overcame my VP, which is my second. The electric pump seems to be doing fine, so no supply side pressure issues. Anybody know any good shops that won't do sloppy work?

I had a similar issue on a road trip this spring. Same symtoms, occasional dead pedal. It eventually got bad enough that I had to pull off the side of the road. I pulled up the codes it had just tripped which was 0237 (low map signal voltage) and that 0602. I reset my ecm back to stock software and tried again. Luckily, I made it the rest of the way home (about 500 mles) with no issues. Went out to start it the next day to unload the trailer and the dead pedal and codes were back. Same codes, 0237 and 0602. Did alot of trouble shooting with the map sensor and in the mean time picked up another code which was the apps sensor. Having eliminated a faulty map or wiring issue, I replaced the apps and problem fixed. Im not sure why the other codes showed up in the first place and the apps didnt, you may have something similar going on as the 2 codes you are showing really dont mean much. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Hmm, with codes and symptoms, I'm gonna guess pump. Replacing the APPS might fix it, but usually it's the pump. Stupid computer on the top loses contact when it gets too hot... ...

I was on vacation a few years back, worked on a friend's truck over near Ashville. Had to go up to KC to get the parts. They were super nice at the parts desk.....
