So you think you are Bombed?

Did Ford ever put Cummins engines in their trucks?

My brother has a dead '99 Ford Powerstroke in his yard, when he tried to move it to work on the trailer it just quit running, it turns over fine but wont fire. He talked to the owners and they told him three days ago they put about 3 gallons of gasoline in it. Is 3 gallons of gas enough to kill it? it ran about 175 miles before it stopped. Anything else he can check, fuel pressure, codes, another problem unrelated to the gasoline? I've heard a bad CPS will stop them how do you check for a failed CPS?

Thanks

Jared

Oh yeah, 3 gallons is more than enough to kill it. Drain the tank, and the fuel system, and re-prime the system.

does the tachometer move when you crank it over? If not then it is the CPS, if it moves it's something else. Read the codes should tel you.

They don't have an injection pump. I do not think the lack of lubricity will kill their injectors.
Do they have a lift pump that could be hurt by the gas?

Do you need a tool to retrieve codes?

My brother is going to flush the fuel system and check the tach for CPS signal Monday, if it still wont go its off to the dealer.
