My Dad is on his way to Fla,he is outside of Allentown,PA. No power on hills, bucking and kicking under load, slows down to 45mph,or less. He's towing 5K lb enclosed trailer. I think his lift pump is gone,he has DTT trans work, and an EZ. . He is 140 miles from home,if its the pump,i can rob it out of my 2000,and bring it to him,if we cant find one locally. His truck is an 01 3500,10K miles, auto. He's trying to find a local Cummins shop now. He has 2 new fuel filters with him,but he;s afraid to break the seal on the filter ,if the pump is bad,it wont get prime after. Any help or advice would be helpful.

You may wnt to have him unplug the EZ and see if runs better. I have not heard of an EZ going bad but stranger thing have happened.

I'd try to unplug the EZ also, just for the heck of it. Sure sounds like the lift pump. Any white smoke when it's stumbling ? I did a quick search, the link below has a list a Cummins service centers within 20 miles of Allentown. Hope this helps !!!

Damn, didn't go through. Just punch in Allentown, PA for a list of the nearest dealers (Cummins) at the link above.

Glad you found a salution and pump just a thought a good xmass fathers day birth day ect present ..... a fuel pressure guage and sender ///////. LOL Ron in Louisville ky:D :D :D :D :D :D

I would go ahead and change the fuel filter, I had the exact same problem, changed the filter and everything was fine. By the way the filter had 9000 miles on it.

Dad made it to Fla fine,I think he got a bad load of fuel, the truck started running fine after he bought the pump, and fueled up,and it started running perfect, changed the filter, drained some water twice from the housing, and was on his way. He ran without the EZ for 400 miles, thinking it was bad,man what a difference the EZ makes, even with DD2's. I have an SPA digital pressure/temp guage,I ordered it almost 3 months ago-still isnt in. I will be buying him a fuel pressure guage. He's glad to have a new(spare lift pump) in his toolbox anyway.
