What is so great about this controller? I'm running an older Tekonsha, which can be a bear to get setup up right. TIA

The Jordan's are cable actuated via your brake pedal, not inertia or timer based.

The Jordan after setup is pretty much forget about it. On our old

pickup we had one that tied into the brake line. . It was also easy to set up. The new pickup I used a Tenosha Sentinel and it worked fine but was hard to set up and had to fiddle with it often.

Also the possibility of it setting the trailer brakes when the E brake worked was not good IMO.

I can definately tell the difference in braking with the Jordon. .

stops are smoother ie,no delay getting any brakes on the trailer.

As you probably know Jordan uses a cable to the brake pedal along with the electronics. . I sure like mine. FWIW

Wonder what is the normal cost of these and are they easy to install?

Group buys are usually a defined duration, but it can't hurt to call & ask. As for the install, it took me about an hour to get mine in, IIRC. Less for the actual install, but about that time for some tweaking.
