I Want My Power Back!!!!

Driving to San Antonio this weekend I had my quad box on 100hp (Averaged 18. 8mpg for the trip, not bad!!:D) and my truck bucked, check engine light came on and the truck starts running smooth as butter again.

I was worried my transfer pump was getting ready to die, but no other symptoms. After a fews hours of driving, light goes off.

Coming home today maintaining fairly constant speeds but not using cruise, the same thing happens, truck bucks once and the check engine light comes on, truck runs smooth afterwards.

I'm pulling a P0088 and a P0483 code. Called the dealer on Saturday and they had no clue on the P0483. Power seems very good. I waxed some kid in a white 03+ quad 4x4 with exhaust and ranch hands, so the power is there. Any ideas?

i had p0483... the dealer changed out the fan clutch drive or something like that [i never got any paperwork on that repair, as the dealer was closing when i picked it up and they couldn't find the papers, so they said they'd mail it, and i guess they forgot... oh well]

I don't know if the codes are the same on an 04. 5 as on an 03. On an 03 the P0088 code is fuel rail pressure to high, and the P 0483 code is cooling fan speed. Might not be the same on the 04. 5 but that will give you something to go on.

I just had the fan clutch replaced - it's now electric so the price is insane. Truck seems to be running fine, I'll have to run it by though:rolleyes:

Whoever replaced your fan clutch didn't erase the code. Probably the boxes you have on it caused the other code.

The p0483 never showed until 500 miles after I was out of the dealership. You're correct about the rail pressure box. I was told by quad that either shutting off the box while driving or cruising for a long distance at the same speed could trip that one. No biggie there.
