I have a 2 k dodge dually with stock 24v diesel engine and auto trans, I have 3rd gear starts and can drop down the stick and get 2nd and everyonce in a while I get 1st so I replaced the gov son and transducer with no luck, I am getting right at 5 volts on the orange pin #31 on the pcm, I also just took truck to dealer and they can not reflash my computers due to me having a Manual Trans ecm on the engine? (same part #s though) is this really true? my pcm is the original one, they said their machine would not accept my trucks configuration! so im still in limp mode, Im getting no codes on my OTC but when I cycle switch I get po713 which is gov pressure too high code! what should I do now? can anyone reflash my pcm and ecm to the right combination? thanks for reading this thread!

gov pressure?

What does the gov pressure read with engine off and codes cleared? That will tell you if it is electrical or mechanical. Most of the time if you have no volts with engine off and no code then you may have to replace the valve body for a sticking valve. Have you had any mods done to the trans? If you lived near me i could run you threw the process and show you on the computer how to re flash at the DLR.

Don't know if this helps or not, but the dealer had a problem with flashing my ecm as well, and I have an 01 auto. After much discussion with the service guys and the techs, they agreed to "research" the problem, and a week later they claimed that they figured it out. They claim it was a software issue on their side. It seemed more likely that they just didn't know how to do it - but that's just my 0. 02. I went to the dealer to reprogram my tire size - after about 4 tries they finally got it right.

Pressure

What you want to do is see what the gov pressure is at a stop in OD range with the DRBIII. It should be 0. 00 to max 3. 00 psi before it will start acting up. Check it with the DRBIII key in the run position and with engine off and see what gov pressure is to.

dealer cant reflash computers

Well I just got back from another dealer today, the tech said he only reflashes when you have a hunt or overdrive problem and he didnt have the formula to reflash my problem? so while his hand held was installed on my truck it read that the pressure at the gov was at 130 lbs and 5 volts at idle! he said it was suppose to be 1 volt and 0 lbs? he then said that since I had already put in new gov snlds and transducer that all he could do was put truck on lift rack and take a look at the wiring connections, ( I already did this before and checked my grounds too with no luck) the service guy came back to me 1 hour later and said that I had a short in the wiring and if I wanted them to repair it that they could do so ! I said OK as long as they didnt put in a new wiring harne$$. he said OK and that they would be done in 40 mins, I waited nearly 2 hours before it was done, he said tech put in another wire in the harness somewhere? I then paid them $168 and left! I then went to a large parking lot and looked under the hood and even under the truck near trans, when I opened the hood I could see he had left a spool of wiring soilder on top of my radiator, I then could see a red wire comming off the PCM # 4 with black tape around it, I could see it ran down the loom somewhere? so I got under the truck and I could now see a red wire that was grounding my trans and going to the the # 2 pin on the trans plug which runs the gov switches etc, so for $168 I got first and second gear starts now! its kind of Crude looking now and I am going to try and make it neater so I wont get torn out. So if anyone has a first gear problem you might try this trick? I will try and see where the red wire comming from the PCM is actually connecting too! I hope the Rewire job last?
