I'm having a problem with my truck and there is a dealer flash reccomended to me to correct the problem. What I need to know is do I leave the comp box on or what??? With out it I'm sure I'll set codes as I have stage 3 injectors, PDR HX40, 4 inch, AFE. MInd you I'm not wanting to hide a thing, I know I am my own warranty station and accept that fact. I don't want something happening to the comp during the software flash at the dealer. What do I do?? I'm going to give Edge a call on Monday and ask them also, but thought I'd ask here.

I don't think it would hurt anything to leave it hooked up, but if it was me to be safe I would unhook the data port connector and map sensor connectors from the comp box and then unplug the comp from it's harness. This way you would be 100% sure nothing would happen. Takes about 5 minutes. Like I said before nothing would probably happen anyway but with my luck anything that can go wrong would.

You can leave it in the truck... ... ... but unhook it for the flash. Just like Ron mentioned, MAP and Data Plug you can do it in the parking lot before you give it to them and chances are you won't have enough boost in the parking lot to set codes off. There is a chance it will fry your COMP.

So I called Edge and they said to unhook the box also. Did just that and went in and had the flash done today. Hopefully this will resolve the problem I was having. Only time will tell. Believe it or not the dealer I took it to said absoultely nothing about any of the changes to my truck. I was surprised and nothing was noted on any paperwork either. So far the truck is running fine. I believe I can detect a slight increase in idle speed is the only thing.

The thing was dying occassionally when shifted into gear, also seemed worse when it was warm outside{75 t0 80 or so}. Mostly reverse. It has gotten worse as I have gone up in HP. Thats why I say time will tell.

Some times a tighter converter will cause the problems you are haveing, the reflash should take care of it, as I have heard it did for others. I wish you well.

They did the cold weather 18-014-01and the flash for the high idle when cold 18-019-01. The cold weather flash is the one that is supposed to correct the problem. Other than that the truck runs like a violated ape.

Believe it or not I went to Medved Chrysler/Plymoth in Wheatridge. The service guy was very pleasent, got me in the next day, and they said they do have a diesel tech working there all the time. I was up front and told them I had a modified truck and wanted a specific flash done and even took a copy of the tsb with me and gave it to them. They attached it to the work order and even gave me a copy of the tsb for the cold weather idle they did along with the one i wanted done. It was the most painless trip to a service department at a dealer in a long time.
