Dealer installed AMSOIL with no concerns!

I took the truck in for a rear diff service yesturday. I came armed, with 5 qts of AMSOIL 75-90 Synthetic series 2000. I was expecting the worst when I asked my dealer to use that instead of the MOPAR stuff. He never even asked a question and said "Sure". I told him it was the weight and rating required by Dodge for my axle and to maintain my warranty. No problems... . is every dealer this nice????? Oo. Oo.

That's what I plan to use when I change it. It meets all the specs.

Yes, but I had no idea that dealers were so willing to use stuff other than MOPAR stuff. I fully expected him to say I had to put it in myself or have someone else do it for whatever reason. He did charge me 40. 00 just for the labor of doing it ( I really need to take a mechanic class)..... I want the Mag-hytec and wish I could do it myself...

Why would they have any concerns?? It's one of if not the best oil in the industry. I would say you lucked out and found a good dealer.

I also put Amsoil Series 2000 in my rear diff, I changed it at about 2000 miles and it was already fairly contaminated. I've always believed in doing an early change on the first one since there is debris from break-in and no filter to get rid of it.

You can do the diff cover yourself. Just take the bolts out, drain the oil and put the new cover and gasket on, then tighten it up, refill the oil and you're done. Most community colleges teach basic mechanic courses, but you might be better off to attend some bombing parties in your area. Check the local events listings on here. I got all my bombs installed that way.

Mag cover uses a O Ring. . just have to get some gasket goop to level out the dips in the casting and stamp on the casting [under stock cover on rear end housing]. . very easy/simple to do and gives ya a couple qts. more fluid

I didn't figure it was that big a deal! THis truck has had about 3 changes since new and only has 10,000 on it now!!! 2200 miles came the first when they rebuilt it, 2nd came at 5,000 when i discovered on TDR that they put in the wrong fluid after the rebuild so took it back forthat, then I bought the AMSOIL and it was burning a hole in my garage to get into that diff, so just had it changed... communiy college sounds OK, But I already have a degree post Masters so seems kind of " Backwards". . loilolol Wonder if Harvard offers auto classes?

I didn't mean go back to school full time. Our local college has weekend courses, maybe one to two sessions, just to teach the basics, changing oil and things like basic maintenance. Good skills to have to keep from paying some high priced mechanic to do something you can do in a few minutes at home, on your own time, instead of having to leave it at a dealers. I hate to be without my own vehicle for any length of time. Especially my truck.

You're still welcome to come and hang out with us. Yeah, it's a long drive, but you'll probably be ready for an oil change by the time you get here. Has to be a local TDR group that has wrench sessions you could sit in on. I think the group is the rattlin rams, or something like that. Good luck with your search.
